IT'S like i said in a diff post, T omlin can't be buddy buddy with his players and let them get away with crap, Then when he start's to disaplin them, they pout and don't wana perform.. LIKE they say it's easier to be a hard ass coach , and thro them a bone every now and then , than it is to be there friend,, I'M NOT REALY STATING THIS RIGHT BUT IM SURE YALL KNO WHAT I MEAN... I think benching him was harsh after 2 fumbles... if it happens in one game it is bad luck, if it happens multiple times over the course of 4 or 5 games then it is a problem. But he was never on Tiki Barber level with the fumbles....

That said, I don't like his running style. I feel his all or nothing runs instead of grinding for some extra yards lead to our sputtering offense at times. That is one thing Bettis did teach Parker to do...to fight for every extra inch.

And his tweets make him a dude that is hard to like. He has a history of butting heads with coaches, it goes back to way before the NFL.

I am all for it. If players do not want to buy in get rid of them. This is what good teams and organizations do.
He has never really cared. You can tell by his body language.

I've never liked Mendy anyway and I knew he was soft when RayRay tossed him out for the seseason

i say bring back Willie Parker, I'm sure he'll be better than all of our backs

He quit on the team, going to be hard pressed finding many Steeler fans giving him any props now.

I was never a fan of the pick but then again I like a power runner more then I like the multifaceted backs. That being said people told me after the draft the he was a lower the shoulder run you over type in college so I was hopeful, it just never materialized. Again bottom line was he was a member of the Steelers and I won't run the guy down however in his contract year he has done little to improve his stock in what will be a very difficult off-season for the team. If he is done I will say thank you for all you did for the team and leave it at that.

I haven't seen someone do so much with nothing short of Ben Roethlisberger. He definitely had his good moments with us but he's clearly gone once the season ends.

Agreed Coastal, he never came across as the smart type. I've not really disliked Mendy (except for the stupid twitter comments), but he really isn't anything spectacular. He's had some flashes of brilliance (football field, not brain activity), but nothing that's really stuck.

He seems to have so much potential if he could only be coached up a bit but there is little proof of improving his focus. Maybe the coaches felt it was not getting thru to him. Boy would it be sweet if the FO could dupe Cleveland to give up Trent Richardson for him.

I am on record as of today, that I will
no longer support Rashard Mendenhall, Talent wise he is
the best back we have. heart wise. he is the worst. Please
Steelers get him off the team TODAY PERIOD. Send him home.

the man will be 30 years old and will have 2,500 carries under his belt come training camp 2013 and with 9 years in the league in the books only played 16 games to this point TWICE in his career ..... Great back no question about it , but you never trade for a RB at that age with that many miles on the tires ...you spend the draft pick on a youngster that will still be in the league when he is ready to enter the HOF

The guy was amazing the last 3 years, then had an injury, had to heal, we watched Dwyer and Redman step up in his healing time. Mendy comes back in and fumbles and he gets benched and replaced for it the same game that Dwyer and Redman and Rainey and Batch also gave the ball away in the same game 6 other times. I think I'd be upset if I was Rashard too.

Go to another team Mendy. In 2009, you gave us 1,108 yards with 3 fumbles. In 2010, 1273 yards with 2 fumbles, in 2011, 978 yards before being injured with 1 fumble. Dwyer has carried the ball for 500 yards in the 2012 season with 2 fumbles, 1 of them IN the game you got benched for for fumbling. He was them promoted to #1 after THAT game. Redman has run for 350 yards in the 2012 season with with 2 fumbles. You are NOT APPRECIATED Mendy. Go to another team where they will value you're gifts

Yeah and if he wasn't acting like such baby he would be starting right now. I used to defend the guy too but once a player starts pulling this crap, SEE YA! Team first, little diva can go take his "talents" elsewhere.

Which is why I was never a big fan of either one of them. One trick ponies. A lot of dancing and great speed with wide open grass in front of them but poor vision / decision making at the line of scrimmage and no power. Really good backs can at least fall forward for a yard when there's no hole to run through. Not so for either of those guys.

I think it's up to Dwyer to prove over the rest of this season, that he is the man. If he fails to do so, I would expect a higer draft pick to be used on a running back in the draft.

So very true. I think generally all fans are fickle but sometimes championship teams fans such as Steelers fans tend to be even more fickle. Myself included lol

I like Mendy's skill set but for whatever reason he just does not seem to gel with the team. He by far is our most talented running back but as someone previously mentioned has zero want to. I would love to take his skill set and put it into Dwyer. He has seen his last play as a Steeler. The only way he sees the field again this year is if Rainey, Dwyer, Batch and Redman all get hurt. I think Tomlin is sending a message saying this is a team game not an individual one.

My hope is they sign Dwyer and Redman this off-season and draft Lattimore from SC. I know he is a year away from playing but he has the running style to fit very well in the Steel City.
