    Sidney "The Bull" Thornton was an effective battering ram for the Steelers. At 5'11" and weighing 230 he did a good job in getting the tough yards.

    He never quite developed into the successor to Rocky Bleier that he was drafted to be, but he was a significant contributor to the Steelers SB XIV team. For those of you who weren't fans in that era, he was a lot like Jaylen Warren.

    Always sad to lose a player from the dynasty era.

    He always reminded me of the Cowboys Robert Newhouse, who Chuck Noll initially considered drafting instead of Franco.

    I guess we are in that time period that the Steelers greats of the 70’s are reaching their 70’s which means we will unfortunately read more and more stories like this. They gave their hearts and bodies for the organization, fans and city. It’s hard to see them pass on.

    It makes me think of my own mortality as I am around the same age as these guys. Life sure passes quickly.
