With Colon out DeCastro will gets his first start of the season we will need him. The o-line vs San Diego was poor no holes opened for the running game and they did a poor job picking up the blitz.

I'm excited for this, but why isn't Ramon Foster starting? At this point in the season you can't afford any rookie mistakes as good as Decastro might one day be.

So, let's see Foster does a bang up job all year and gets sat at the Cowboys?

I think I heard Foster was switching sides. He'll roll up people on that side now. Pouncey will still get rolled up by him even there

If all goes as planned and DD gets the start at RG...Foster will slide over to LG (where he's played before) and they will keep Pouncey at C.

did foster roll some one up? i thought that was all gilbert?

i'm still wondering why would they leave two rookies on the right side? wouldn't it be better with DD moving to LG in between a couple of vets and leave a vet over with beachum. beachum and foster have played two games together now. head scratcher for sure.

Lets be fair about the SD game it is hard as hell for 5 guys to pick up 7 blitzers and it is even harder for 5 guys to know who to block when ten guys are at the line of scrimmage on every play. The Chargers stacked the line and had one safety deep and then blitzed more than the Oline could block on nearly every play, runs included and that was why there were so few holes and little time for Ben to set up and throw. They could have had the best Oline ever to take the field that day and it would still not have accounted for the extra guys they stacked at the line and brought pressure with.

Foster will move to LG in place of Colon and DeCastro will start at RG , Pouncey will move back to center to try and get the job done vs Jay Ratliff

Did we? That must have happened later in the game when I had to try and get my son down for his nap. What I saw in the first half was more of the same problems we have been having on defense. Over aggressive on running plays which they used so when they bit hard on the line slanting hard in one direction, Matthews cut back into the gap for a four yard gain. On obvious passing down they rushed the predictable same five with maybe Troy flying in or trying a nickel back blitz that was picked up by a running back. Giving Rivers enough time for that stupid pick play they kept running over and over again. Slot guy slants to the outside, outside slants in picking off the DB and giving just enough separation for the quick 5 yard sideline throw. I just thought what the Chargers did on defense made the line look alot worse then it was, not saying that you ar wrong Mac and that the line doesn't suck just no way under that pressure could they have looked good.

they blocked our blitzes very well. at one time they had 4 new guys on the line. hardwick was out a few plays. my thinkin was more, if norv is going, is their line coach going too? who is he and shouldn't we want to talk to him? i think to much distraction from kuglar getting that job, hurt both the line and the preperation for that game.

Show all them why you were our number 1 pick on
national TV David. Get ready now, it won't be easy
    Dallas can rush the passer.

Regardless of who was stacking the line or sending blitzes, our oline stunk. I didn't see any adjustments from the coaches (Kugler) to combat this lining guys in the gaps. On several occasions we had guys coming free.
Our own blitzes and schemes didn't sniff the quarterback. With only two starters on there line we could not come up with a scheme to confuse them? (Lebeau). Either we are too predictable or Lebeau can't devise a scheme to confuse olineman that just came off the streets or practice squad. A total debacle in my eyes.

Has anyone seen where this is a for sure thing? I have yet to see any documentation by a writer or source, that DeCastro will start on Sunday for sure? Because Tomlin didn't come out and say that he was in his press conference.

they need to do something to shake that line up. they were showing small signs of getting better for awhile, but they have slipped back again. some of that i think has to do with Adams getting hurt. its tough to be good as a unit when they cant play more than 1 game in a row together.

Yeah but you have to admit Mac, this unit hasn't had any consistency for years. Our 2 top draft picks who were supposed to help fix the line haven't even played a game together yet.

and rookies seldom do here. 4 out of 5 guys that started last year , started this year. i just don't think they should be or are done with fixing this line yet. the bright spot so far was the 7th round pick. legs going in shouldn't change the chemistry that much. he's played alot of ball here with these others. yea the injuries hurt but, we have been getting good play on the right side even with the backup tackles. would DD make that much difference on that side? beachum has outplayed adams so far on the right side. so it's not like those two top draft picks have really hurt us this year. it's the vets. we need a LG bad. a true mobile LG.

I read somewhere foster is comfortable playing on the left and is actually better suited for the left side. I believehe was a swing guard to begin with so if he is comfortable on the left why take a rookie out of his comfort zone.

Interesting observation. It seems like we have come full circle with the offense. Last year...nothing but always going for the home run. This year, just keep everything short. That has put us in the position of being somewhat one dimensional. We can't run and we only throw short passes. So defenses are crowding the line and putting quick pressure on Ben or the QB. We must provide some opportunities to throw the ball down the field. If Wallace has one on one coverage with no safety over the top....he should be open EVERY play. That is just reality.

Well, I think most are making an assumption. DeCastro is a special talent, one that should he be healthy enough, should be starting. If he is healthy enough to start, he should be able to.

On another note, we are currently missing 3 guys from an Oline we thought was going to be improved, and the #1 draft pick who was supposed to help that line hasn't played an offensive snap yet. Weird that we are even where we are when you look at it that way.
