I do not usually post new threads, but this just has me perplexed. Knowing the different CAP sites differ to some capacity, they generally are within a respective range. I also know its based on the projected CAP increase, which can go up..or down. That said, as recently as 2 weeks ago SportTrac had the Steelers at 13.5 under the CAP based on that potential increase, no other contract changes taking place, now they have us 3.5 million over the CAP. Over-the Cap.com has us at 1.2 million under.

I know cuts will take place and the other moves, but (at least at this point) it looks like the 'big move'(s) some are hoping for just want happen. As usual we try and keep a couple of guys, then sign 2nd or 3rd tier guys for depth.

Not a we are doomed thread, lol But how the heck to we go from about mid range (16-18) in the league with CAP availabitity, to being over the cap?

Kidding Vox, I saw something like that the other day and thought" What? How the ...? Thought we were like waaaaaaaay under going into next year.
I mostly just wait til deadline. Out of my league. I can't balance a stereo.

Not sure on the details but they have decisions on alot of money that should free up space.... William Jackson, Trubisky, Witherspoon, Jacks, Wallace, Chucks are $40 million. I figure half those guys are gone or signed at a lower hit.

And I expect they would restructure if they need to: Watt, Fitz, Cam, DJ.

It will be be an interesting off-season.

spend some time reading about the salty cap on steelersdepot. Particularly articles by Dave Bryan. He’s consistently the most accurate source I’ve found for the Steelers salary cap. He will also frequently break down the discrepancies found on other sites. What they don’t take into account, rule of 51 yada yada yada

It is because the Steelers only had 41, Or something like that, guys under contract when you originally looked at it. Now they are taking the top 51 players that include all those Future Reserve contract players they just signed to get the Top 51.

If you look at the bottom of the Player Salary Cap hits, you will see a list of all those Future/Reserve guys that just signed with the Steelers last week that are now counting against the 2023 Cap Space..

Excuse me, but when dad gave me the hot '70 Rebel Rambler, 3 on the column and a 232 engine that might hit 65 going down hill I pimped it out with technics 12 inch woofers. The speaker in the dashboard did not work, Cassettes had replaced 8 tracks, but my older bro in the Navy had an 8 track...so I improvised and made it work lmao. Was not a babe magnet, but it was all mine.

Makes total sense, so a YT steeler guy had suggestions that might give the team 35 million in space before any restructuring. Some of those cuts will likely happen, we are not in bad shape, but not nearly enough to sign our own and go for a top flight player. We rarely do anyway, and I am sure they could find a way if it were the right player, but Im not holding my breath.

Remember the 1st year is always a bargain as they backload the Salary and Spread the Bonus.

If they went after Edmunds from the Bills, The 2023 cap expense would probably be around $8 million.

My dad gave my brother and I a 4 banger Vega with 3 on the floor

I took one look at it and told my brother it was his

I went out and bought a GTO and built it up from one end to the other

Then PennDOT invited me to sell the car or give my drivers license back

The age of great cars. Include the Pinto in this group. My oldest sister (over 10 years difference) had a Corvair. First time my dad looked at the engine and fan belt design, he was like What the...

I bought a 65 Corvair convertible for $45 and it was worth it no drivers window no rear window dents in all of it but it was a convertible and it was summer

One day bouncing down a country road the engine just fell out of it onto the ground
