Here are some notes from Coach Tomlin's press conference earlier.

Coach Tomlin says Willie had surgery on knee. Will be out or several weeks

Mike Adams is out again this week.

Cortez Allen is limited with hip flexor, his participation is in question.

Keenan Lewis has a hip flexor, as well.

Leftwich back and Woodley should be back on practice field this week.

We'll see a lot of Curtis Brown, DeMarcus Van Dyke and Josh Victorian at corner this week.

Having to rely on young CBs again will this time compell staff to "build a plan around what they're capable of executing"

No setback for Polamalu, but may look to spell him in order to preserve him.

Troy had some tightness in his calf during the game, but no setback. Coach T mistakenly said Achilles after the Chargers game.

DeCastro's health now good enough to have opportunity to play. He would go to RG and Foster would go in at LG.

"David's worked his way back to health." "If we like what we see throughout the week, he'll

"Obviously if a guy like Ratliff is playing, it would behoove us to have Pouncey playing at the Center position."

When asked, he said he has no plans to change RB rotation and include Mendenhall.

"No, not as I sit here right now. Obviously we didn't run the ball in a manner in which we would have liked on Sunday, but really it was more of a function of situation then an inability to run the football." "Hopefully we won't get one dimensional like we did last Sunday".

    On 2-point conversion:

I Thought we had better chance to "sneak back" into game by not scoring conversion. I thought we could get the quick stops necessary. I thought they would leave their play book open. "Obviously it would have been tough to sneak back into the game had we gone for two earlier than what I was comfortable with."

"We don't live in our fears, we live in our hopes"

Said Antonio Brown didn't try hard enough to fall on lateral in end zone. "Error on our part, one of many."

i'm kind of suprised they wouldn't put DD over between max and pouncey and keep foster with beachum on the right. i guess it's two rooks and heath on the right and two vets and a RB on the left. pouncey your on your own up the gut. maybe adams can go to the left side when he's well on our run to the PO's. hehehe;)

On the 2 point conversion: am I remembering right that it was Tomlin's first play-off game, against the Jags, where we went for 2pts several times and kept failing, and it turned out that if we had just kicked the xp we would have won? This isn't a point or anything, I'm just trying to remember... as my memory is usually shot to pieces by Tuesday...

Hopefully, Van Dyke or Victorian, take their chance and do something with it, and hopefully Dez Bryant doesnt play.

Our secondary is in shambles, I suddenly went from feeling we were going to win Sunday to we are in serious trouble. They better work on getting to the QB this week, if they don't get pressure on Romo we are dead.

You are remembering correctly. I flew out from the West Coast to go to that game and remember it, unfortunately, vividly. The Steelers had just created a turnover and scored to pull within 5 (I think late in the third, but I could have my time mixed up -- perhaps I don't remember as vividly as I think I do). Tomlin opted to go for 2 which had me rolling my eyes given the amount of time left in the game. Where it REALLY got bad was we got a holding penalty on the attempted 2 point conversion that was otherwise successful.....and he STILL went for 2 instead of just getting the one point and thinking that we might need that point later in the game since we'd still, in fact, have to score if we were going to win. On the next series, I think it may have been Ike Taylor (is that possible?) that picked off a pass and we quickly scored ANOTHER touchdown and then went for 2 again on a fade or something that was unsuccessful. Now up 1 instead of 3, our fate had already been written. Of course, I think the Pats were waiting for us if we had won that year as well, but heck....I'm always looking for one more week!!!!!

I thought of that game as I saw us not going for 2 against San Diego. I didn't fault the decision not to go for 2 at the time since I would imagine our 2-point record is pretty abysmal although in the context of that Jacksonville game, the decision was sort of interesting. I just figured once the spread gets above 20, we'd need an abacus on the sideline to figure out our next move....

I just had to laugh at this a little. If I may take a little creative license:

Back at Steelers headquarters, Coach Tomlin is handing out Christmas presents...

Coach T: Allen! Here's that hip flexor you've been wanting.

Cortez Allen: Gee, thanks Coach!! How did you know?

Keenan Lewis: That's not fair, Coach! I've been here longer than Cortez and you know I've always wanted a hip flexor. It's just not fair! Not fair!! Not fair!!! Not fair!!!!

Coach T: Calm down, Keenan! Lookie here what Santa has for you. Your very own shiny new hip flexor!!!!

Keenan Lewis: You really mean it? Oh thank you Coach!!! This will be the best Christmas ever!!!
