Looking into it for my dad for X-mas but don't know much about it. How are the sports stations? Much Steelers talk?

He likes talk radio, but we're in Cincy, if he could get NFL talk he'd probably like it. Give me your opinions, how much is it, etc.

I have it - and it's nice - but don't expect "Steelers" talk. There's no Steeler station on it that I know of. It is pretty expensive for what you get, but it's nice to be able to just turn on a station and listen without worrying about whether or not you're in range.

By the way - I'm dumping it. I just don't use it enough. I've turned to I Heart Radio on my cell phone. There's a Black and Gold station on there that I'm addicted to.

About 4 years ago, I was suckered into buying a "lifetime" membership for Sirius radio. I remember the saleswoman telling me, buy it- we are going to merge with XFM, etc.

So, I did and I considered it one of the worst wastes of money I've ever made- for a while.

Then they did merge- and a few years went by, and the several hundred bucks I paid filled out over time.

And, I've come to really like it. Now, it's paid for itself- I get it free for the rest of my life, and I have it in my car, on my computer, Iphone and Ipad. I get every NFL and MLB game as well as many other sports, music, news, etc.

    I have both.

If you do decide to get it, go with Sirius because they are the one with NFL Radio (Its awesome btw). Even though they merged and a lot of the stations are the same, a lot of them stayed exclusive to either XM or Sirius and you can only get those channels as part of an updated package. If you're only going for music, I'd suggest XM. But for sports, its Sirius. Plus you get Stern whenever he feels like broadcasting (3 days a week, 3 weeks a month) and he extra funny uncensored.

I'm a trucker and I would be lost with out my Sirius/XM Radio. I've had my satellite radio for over 10 years. The Radio unit I have is called a "Merge". I receive 100% of both Sirius and XM talk, music , and sports programming. Because of the 100% programming feature of the radio, it was alot more expensive then a regular system. Radio was about $300. Plus the subscription package I have to cover this radio and the 2 other regular systems I have in 4 wheelers is about $150 per year total.

If you go for just a regular system, they have a Sirius OR XM base programming. Both are about the same for music and talk. The main difference is what sports programming that is exclusive to each. No matter what you choose.. it will be worth it.

I have had Sirius for years. My first was a add on to a existing account. Than bought a new vehicle that came with a year free. When that subscription was about to expire they called and wanted me to renew at $15 a month. I negotiated them down to $5.99 a month for 6 months(Yes they will negotiate if they think they are losing you). Than when that subscription is about to expire I get the call and tell them I will renew at my current price. They have agreed twice now.Its well worth it!

Have had Sirius for quite awhile. Love it for the most part. Only annoying thing is the splitting of the sports. Sirius has the NFL, XM has MLB and NHL.
