Two of the bigger plays that I thought really turned the MO- Brown getting scared to get on that ball in the end zone and that fake punt. IF Brown had just kicked it out it would've been a safety, but I'm not sure what he thought he could've done by picking it up? The fake punt was a killer as well as that took another 3
minutes off the clock and really gut punched the team at that time. I'm pretty sure Brown will hear about that end zone debacle in the dim review come tomorrow

Special teams has been a part of every lost this year. But i guess you can say that for the other parts of the team as well.

Butler had the longest punt in the NFL this season today. 79 Yards. One small bright spot among an otherwise pathetic day.

I think he thought if he picked it up he could maybe get out to the 1 yard line....if not it would have been a safety which would have been like kicking it out of bounds..........only problem he didnt pick the ball up

And all the rest of his punts were horrible, hence they had good field position all day. Their punter was out kicking our punter 10 to 15 yards longer all other times.

Good point- most people love on the guy for one 79 yard punt when he stunk the rest of the day.

Here is a way to improve special teams, stop trying to return anything and it will cut down on the time the special teams units can get penalized.

Actually, I'm ok with the outcome of the play. After all, a safety would have given them 2 pts AND the ball at around midfield (or worse) after the free kick. Most likely, given how the D played at that point, a safety would have resulted in 9 pts for them.

Not sure how a safety helps the Steelers in yesterday's game. The defense had not shown they could stop Rivers & Co. and the safety still gives the ball to SD with the opportunity to drive/put points on the board, and take time off the clock. Yes - it changes the score by 5 points, but I'm not sure that play can be pointed to as the reason the Steelers couldn't come back and win the game. On the other hand - the fact that the play was a FORWARD pass and the official couldn't even get it right with a review - is really disturbing to me.

Regarding special teams - it's been a problem all year. Butler had a HORRIBLE day except for the 79 yard punt when the game was all but iced.

The fake punt? Well - that was just adding insult to injury, but I still say that #81 of SD was holding on that play - another non-call.

I'm not saying that the officials blew the game for the Steelers - but they had a horrible game too. Even on the scoring play to Wallace, they missed a defensive holding AND a facemask call on the same play - and what gets me, is the announcers didn't even MENTION any of the non-calls.

Steelers D didn't play that bad at times yesterday, and by the Chargers scoring a TD over a safety it changed the attitude and score of the game. Chargers got great field position yesterday, and even the worst nfl team is gonna find some points eventually. Brown cost the team that one. Regardless if it was a forward pass or not ( which it looked that was to me) as for the penalties, I noticed that as well, but there is something missed every play I guess

I agree. There were two penalites on the Wallace TD and no one mentioned them at all...
