It was 4th and a foot. At that point the Chargers D line was owning the Steelers O line. They were consistently getting a push and disrupting the run. They needed a lead blocker.

Im all for the players executing, but the coaches have to put them in a position to. They have to give them the best possible opportunity to succeed. They didn't. At that point the play dictated that the RB needed a lead blocker. He didn't get one.

They didn't lose the game going for it on 4th down in the first half. I say right decision to go for it, poor play call, poor execution. Redman stopped, giving up all of his momentum before any contact.

Tomlin does need to find a way to address all these penalties. The terrible field position in the first half contributed to the lousy offensive performance. If Rainey would just sit on the ball in the end zone, we would be guaranteed to start at the 20. Instead, there's a holding or block in the back that have us starting inside the 10.

p:this!: if Tomlin doesn't fire the special teams coach and the strength & condition coach then he should be fired. On every kick return there is a 50 per cent chance of a penalty. Totally uncalled for as professional football.

Tomlin won't fire anybody. He didn't even fire BA, the Rooney's fired BA. Tomlin said in his post-game press conference that the way they prepare for games won't change at this point in the season, so don't expect anything different from this team moving forward. Apparently everything is just fine in Tomlin's delusional world. Why change preparation, it's clearly working...

The thing about that which bothered me was him implying when someone asked about the other games we should have won that he doesn't even think about those games. We can all see there is a pattern going on here that he apparently isn't paying any attention to. That's frustrating to hear him say he doesn't pay attention to his own history.

Especially when they keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. I guess it's just easier to ignore the past then it is to try to rectify it.

How can you say that was the right decision to go for it?

If I'm not mistaken it was 10-0 at that point and we were around the 40 yard line. We can come back from 10 pretty easily, but 17-0 after stopping us on 4th down is a HUGE momentum swing. Not only does the points swing kill us but the confidence we give the Chargers is just crippling.

It's been that way since Tomlin became coach. We have a good year the usually the next season we have issues. And within that good season we faulter to crap teams. We do that every year actually. I have totally have no faith n this team anymore. Do I still love my steelers? Yes.

After a loss like this today, there is no way anyone can convince me . That TOMLIN can get this team prepared to play on a consistant? bases, there was no reason we should have overlooked this team, this far in the season. Every interview from the players i heard was abought how we wasnt ready to play, hell i even heard coaches say that,.

MT is dilusional, doesn't seem to have a handle
on his players. Majority of them play with no emotion.UNDISCIPLINED, NOT MOTIVATED.
They are STEALING THE ROONEY'S MONEY. COACHES INCLUDED.
Yea Mike Tomlin is the greatest thing since sliced bread? Give me a break. Lose
To Raiders, Titans, Browns, Chargers, Yea he is good.

Really? Everybody knows this? Before you start hurling insults in my direction - check the post above mine that says he will be fired before his contract is up. Apparently that member does not qualify as a part of EVERYBODY. My post was in reaction to someone who feels the Rooneys will fire Tomlin before his contract is up. I was simply reacting to that post - and stating the obvious. The Rooneys are not going to fire a coach who has taken then to 2 Super Bowls, winning one. On top of that, they're not going to fire a coach who has a winning record. It doesn't matter how bad some people think he is (I'm not one of those.).

I've always been a Tomlin guy and supporter and I'm still behind him, but a few of my thoughts.

    1. The 4th and 1. I liked him going for it, Hated the play call, a run to the outside, or a run with the Johnson leading the way would have been better.

    2. Not going to the 2 point conversions, and then saying after the game he didn't want to put his 2 point plays on tape? That is just utterly confusing to me. You play to win the game, HELLO?

    3. The long deep onside kicks, not sure if the was on Suisham or thats how he wanted them?

    4. Leaving Ben in a game when we where down 24 points, and hope of comeback was pretty much out the door. I just don't see what you gain by leaving Ben in, sure he did play better toward the end, but what if he gets hurt again?

So what if he does? Perhaps we shouldn't play him at all in the regular season and hope Batch can get us to the playoffs so that Ben can take over? You can't be pulling your starters every time you get down in a game. Injuries are part of the game and will happen from time to time. Being down 24 points isn't the end of the world, the Broncos came back from a 24 point deficit. You play to win the game, not avoid injury. The game wasn't completely out of reach at that point, there was no reason to pull Ben.

Even if it was out of hand, why would we pull our starting QB? He has to shake the rust off and he can only do that on the field. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt.

You guys would be singing a different tone, had Ben got hurt.
It's just with all the choices that Tomlin, was making it didn't make since to me.

Well said, agree with all of this.

Except 4, which I disagree with - if the first quarter was showing signs of rust, it was good to keep Ben out there to get up to game speed. I take what you're saying about injury, but this is Ben, remember - he would probably refuse to sit out even if he was told to.
