Tdot's thoughts on the Game

What a bad,bad,bad,bad game. Never have I seen us this unprepared at home in a while, well actually vs Pats in 2010 was pretty bad but still. It's not like the Steelers to get blown out at home. Here are a few thoughts of mine about today's game.

- Special Teams. Costing us every team from the holding to the constant fair catches at like the 4 yard line to getting faked on. Why did we fire our special team coach, it really couldn't have been much worse with him.

-4th and 1 at our own 48 and we come up short. This spoke volumes about the game, unable to get 1 yard on 2 tries with 2 bruiser RBs. We deserved to lose for this. Food for thought ; why didn't we fake a punt here? Or is that too complex for Tomlin and our pee wee special teams?

- NO ADJUSTMENTS AT HALF TIME? I think it would be an understandment to say the pass rush wasn't working. But why we're we so stubborn to not adjust and rush 3 or 4 and play coverage like we did @ Bal last week? We don't even have legit pass rushers, there were no pass rush moves, just run into a offensive lineman and hold him. Disgusting considering SD had a practice squad OL.

- Turnovers are non existant. This team lacks turnovers and I may have an answer why. The switch from the zone blitz concept of the past to the press man to man we play now. Back then we had actual pass rushers who could play 16 games without pulling a hammy and the opposing QB would rush throws right into the zone for a pick. Hard to get picks when you're chasing a WR on a crossing route. Notice the two times we backed off coverage in a zone resulted in 2 TDs for SD, but I believe if Troy is playing centre field on the 1ST Alexander Td they don't try it.

- I agree with the decision to leave Ben in the game, need to get the rust off and let him pad the stats. I DO NOT AGREE WITH NO 2 POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPTS. Then Tomlin's lame excuse for we wanted to keep the 2pt plays in our pocket and not expose them on flim. What exactly are you saving them for Tomlin? Last I checked we didn't clinch a Playoff Spot, you gotta play to win.

- Team lacked Focus, preparation and concentration. Simple, no explanation needed.

-Tomlin's cliches. The Steelers once again played to a lesser opponent and I've come to expect this, this team simply cannot get motivated to beat bad teams. It looked like no one wanted to play today. If I could wrap up the Steelers problems of playing bad teams in 5 words it would be "The Standard is the Standard." Tomlin, take notice.

The standard has become substandard which explains the 4 lossess to teams with losing records.
