Would you want JJ to come to the Burgh in 23? If we were 1 or 2 players away from a serious run maybe but I don't think it makes sense, what do you guys think?

Matters at what price, and will He play whenever...wherever He's ask, and not get His feelings hurt over it.
If all that is on a good note....Yes I would take Him in a minute. He would be awesome depth at a few positions.

I can't imagine JJ getting out of shape. Steelers fix their o-line with a free agent and a draft pick, fix the middle of the d-line and middle linebacker, start out 6-2 or 7-1, don't you think he might want to join his brothers for a possible deep run into the playoffs? Hell of a third edge to come off the bench, and only play 12-15 plays a game.

    Still has somewhat healthy life.?

Would that be a dream match-up? Yes and I'd love to see it even if it is just spot duty and situational football. However JJ's health scare has put the focus on retirement and family.

I think it is more about the health issues he had earlier this season, but yeah, the smart thing is to move on.

If JJ comes, he would take snaps away from TJ. I doubt TJ would want that.

Why would a defensive end take snaps away from an outside linebacker?

Common misconception that they play the same position. Also doest help that broadcast television often played up the Brother vs Brother aspect between TJ and JJ when they were never on the field at the same time. Kinda like Ben vs Brady or Manning vs Brady. Good for drama but not accurate at all.

maybe because when it’s 3rd and long and there are 4 DL, they both rush from the same end position.

soooo… what position does TJ play when Steelers have 4 down linemen and rush those 4 in obvious passing situations?

They don't have to. In fact, JJ Watt has often rushed from the inside in passing situations.

Unless we’re trading for JJ I wouldn’t get too excited about the possibility.

He is still an outside LB whether he puts his hand in the dirt or blitzes from a standing position. Why not just admit you made an error and let it go instead of charging this hill? Cam Heyward doesn't suddenly become a NT if he lines up inside pointing towards the center nor does Minkah become a CB if he is a third safety who then covers the slot receiver. JJ Watt's size made him ideal for a 4-3 DE, it allowed him to move up and down the line and come off the edge rushing the QB but also holding his own on running plays. He could play with his hand in the dirt or standing up. TJ Watt has the right size, build and speed for Pittsburgh's 3-4 zone scheme. Some might say he is a bit undersized for setting the edge but he holds his own. He isn't built to straight up bullrush a Tackle and overpower him but his speed and quickness as well as hand fighting ability give him a huge arsenal in pass rushing moves. Even if he is the fourth member in a four man rush or part of a 5 man blitz he is still a LB.

If he came on the cheap to get a year in with his brothers for fun and spell our other guys in rotation, yes. Then he’d be fresh in reserve downs. I think he still had double digit sacks this season.

But I also think Derek Watt won’t be back and this whole thing is just a fun exercise. The other Heyward might be filling this brother roster spot.

Sounded like Kenny likes Conner more in the role he had and not so much as just a potential FB . I hate the jack of all trades type HB/TE but I think Cam's little brother could do it nicely
