8-8 isn't the point. If I 'errored' in Tomlin's favor (obviously I know most his seasons weren't 8-8), would I be called into question and called a liar...

 

You and I always seem to have a certain level of confusion between our communication. I don't convey my words real well, no games.

I know you were trying to be a wise guy and overexaggerate. It’s not cute and it just makes your point look weak. If you want to criticize Tomlin by all means go for it. More than likely I’ll agree with you, but when you make up stuff this is what happens.

I'm just surprised of all the absurd, outlandish, inaccurate things I've said about Tomlin over the years on this site, overexaggerating all the way, this is the first thing that got a response calling me out.

Here is My only thing to say about the whole Coach of the Year thing. He has never won, and He has had every type of season You can have.....except a (so far) losing season.
I really don't know what He would have to actually do to win one. Because really everything anyone says.....He has already done, and still hasn't won one.
It's almost like the only way He could win one was either.....tank, and go 1- 16 one year, and make a comeback the next year, or......Go 17- 0, and win a SB.......because He's done everything else at least once....without winning Coach of The Year.

 

I didn't get overly excited with the "8-8" part of this and find the back and forth amusing but did you really just admit to saying absurd, outlandish and inaccurate things about Tomlin? Including over exaggerating? Isn't that the exact definition of a troll?

I've never figured out exactly what an online troll is.
I only read and comment on what I want. I have that option, it's amazing.

You basically just described one to a tee. Saying outrageous, usually untrue things to elicit a response. Especially when you know these things are absurd, outrageous or outlandish.

That's a whole lot of excuses for a whole lot of teams. At what point does the buck stop.

People always place blame on Tomlin, but in all these other cases there's extenuating circumstances so the HC gets a pass?

Also note, I specified Carolina under Ruhle. He clearly lost the team and the team's performance once he was replaced only seems to support that. We can point to Jacksonville this year vs last year under Meyer as an example also. Yes, all of these teams may have had their challenges, but at the end of the day they folded like they were holding unsuited 2-8. In 2019 when Ben went down, the Steelers could have done the same or this year when they started poorly and had a rookie QB starting and their highest paid player and reigning DPOY on IR. But they didn't. Doesn't MT get some credit for that?

Basic translation is that you think you are fighting a heroic struggle, but you're actually looking foolish and accomplishing nothing.

I agree that Tomlin gets some credit. BUT... if the remaining 3 pieces don't miraculously fall into place next week and they fail to make the playoffs, then this season is exactly what we expected to happen and it doesn't matter. Because the goal is championships not missing the playoffs or barely making it in and then getting biatch slapped to go 1 and done.

 

Even if the Steelers win some other coach will put them in the playoffs. Imagine being at the mercy of the Jets...again.
