Not in the standings no, but we're not talking about wins and losses, we're talking about Tomlin for COY.
This team is mediocre. Coaches of mediocre teams don't win COY

Would Seattle Coach qualify for COY?
How about their QB for Comeback Player?

You’re missing the point entirely. A lesser coached team would have caved. The Steelers kept battling through adversary and are alive in the playoff hunt. Last years Super Bowl winner just set a record for most losses the following season

Shannahan’s team is loaded. He could be going for 1 seed if he started season with Jimmy G

I credit that more to the players themselves, than to the head coach.

Did Cowher get it in 2004?

Awards like this don’t come to the Steelers often.

Exactly how many times has he finished 8-8 with the Steelers?

No I'm not missing the point. Professional sports players don't just quit. They play hard every week. There was so much adversary due to our poor start. Is Tomlin not responsible for that?

Tomlin will not be in the running for COY.

Feels like Tomlin is at maximum trade value. We should move on it before the bubble bursts.

This is a good topic for discussion. My thoughts:

    1. Why do people keep saying the team would have crumbled at 2-6? Other teams that are around 500 were also in the same boat like GB, Detroit, etc. Pro teams rarely “crumble” unless the HC is a nazi.

    2. The entertainment value of these stretch runs at end of last and this season is extremely high, and we are all entertained. But what stories will we be telling our kids/grand kids? Will we be talking about SB wins, or how exciting it was to watch other teams lose so we got into playoffs and got clobbered? The latter is what Brown fans tell their kids.

so…. For me, I’ll take SB wins, or AFC conference games over these lame ass 500ish seasons any given Sunday.

Some of you guys are kidding, right?

Every year you see teams essentially stop fighting sometime during the season. This year you had the Colts, the Cardinals, the Broncos, the Dolphins, the Titans, the Panthers under Ruhle, etc. That's one thing that has never happened under Tomlin. If you want to say "But some of those teams lost their QB!" Sure, that happened to Tomlin also back in 2019 and they still were in contention with some guy named Duck slinging it around. That team could have packed it in like some of the teams listed above, but that didn't happen.

And if you want to say that's due to the players, well, who got those players? If the players and coaches stink and Tomlin gets blamed for that, which he should, then you have to give him credit for getting players who aren't quitters also, right?

Of course you do. It’s the coach’s fault when they fail and success is solely because of the players.

Every season, the way I remember it.
That's a strange talking point, regarding my post.

How do you get a 63 win percentage going 8-8 most seasons?

Pointing out a lie isn’t really a “talking point”.

So the Steelers look like **** most weeks. Isn't that the definition of a weak team in your opinion?

I don't view teams as "weak" at the professional level. A team's fortunes can change throughout a season based on various factors.

Wins are wins at the pro level regardless of the opposition. Many gave up on the Steelers post seasons hopes at one point of the season. Here the Steelers are with a chance to make the post season. Change at QB. Loss arguably their best player for several games.

Tomlin isn't coach of the year. He did a good job keeping this team's mindset right.

I thought it was close enough to working for you. I.e., they'll battle their way through the adversity of another AFC North adversary when the Browns come to town next weekend.

Maybe call Webster's and inform them you've created "adversitary": battling through the adversity of one's adversaries. Then you can use it in Scrabble...but find a way to get a silent 'q' in the spelling first so you can really **** somebody off when you lay it down on a triple word score.

Oh, yeah. Apparently Hitler was a terrible football coach if his guys didn't come out of the gates hot. Just pack it up and wait for the draft.

Of everything I said about Tomlin in my previous post, a simple quip about 8-8 is what ruffles feathers. That speaks volumes.
