Allen is likely headed to the unemployment line.
Crowder is an upgrade over Allen, even if only got depth next season.

There should be a significant purge of players from this current roster,
we can do better and we must.

And your best is Robert Spillane. In his defense he has been playing pretty well.

The other two below the line.

I am still amazed at how dumb he was getting in the opposing team's huddle. Good riddance.

As many sacks this year as the entire Steelers ILB crew, combined. Productive in 2021 with 130 total tackles (Bush had 70).

really surprised at Jack's dropoff, from years past. I had a picture of him with JAX as a wrecking machine, but he has gotten old fast

Did Allen pull a muscle while flexing to the Panthers sideline? What an idiot.

It's too bad Spillane doesn't have a bit more athletic ability, I really like the way he plays. He gives 110% hard-nosed effort every play. He's like one of those old school ILBs.

I believe Crowder is an excellent pickup. He came to Georgia as running back and Kirby Smart, who knows how to put a defense together, turned him into linebacker.

Must be a Dawg thing, he complained when they were reducing his playing also. Giants freed him for us to grab.

    https://nypost.com/2022/12/20/giants-waive-tae-crowder-after-free-me-twitter-drama/

In three years, Crowder made 31 starts and exceeded fair expectations for a Mr. Irrelevant – the nickname for last pick of an NFL draft.

After the surprise release of Blake Martinez at the end of training camp, Crowder, 25, became the Giants’ top middle linebacker.

He remained a starter for the first eight games, before the Giants shifted toward a combination of Jaylon Smith and rookie Micah McFadden on the inside.

Crowder’s role gradually decreased until he played zero defensive snaps Dec. 4 against the Commanders. After the game, he tweeted “Free Me #TheReaper.” The words widely were interpreted as asking to be released, which Crowder later said was not the case and pointed just to a desire to help his teammates win. Crowder said he apologized to head coach Brian Daboll for creating a distraction in the locker room.

Not much changed, however. Crowder was a healthy scratch last game and now is on the waiver wire.

    Also read...

Crowder, the final pick in the 2020 NFL draft, began the season as one of the two starting inside linebackers on the team after finishing as the team's leader in tackles the year prior.

However, his playing time diminished as he struggled in the team's new system under defensive coordinator Wink Martindale

What???? Really? He should have been sent home as soon as he joined the other team's huddle. Why would they keep him????

How do you go from leading Giants in tackles to being cut?

I feel that Myles Jack should be back although his cap hit is a bit steep at 11.250 M. I can see a restructure with an easier exit if they release him in 24.

No way I want to see the fashion plate back. Cut the cord Tomlin a mistake was made.

If Crowder works out great. Robinson has not had a real shot to get significant playing time.

Spillane is an UFA after the season. They might bring him back on another one year deal.

A draft pick needs to be added.

the scheme we have been playing so much of doesn't do that. the more two down linemen scheme we use the less run stopping ability we have which makes the linebackers have to beat untied up offensive linemen. it keeps everyone blocked up front but allows more DB's to cover area's in the zone. that's the theory anyway. they really want the 3 safety scheme to work out as an extra linebacker. it's really a mess. unless you have the right type of player in place for the scheme it just doesn't work well. square peg in round hole.

i want fast big linebackers. corners that can play man or zone and can support the run. i don't mind the 3 safety scheme but you have to have the studs at the other positions to cover this. big fast OLB that can support the ru and take on blockers. penetrating two down linemen with some strength and quickness not one or the other. i'd rather we had 3 safeties that can cover and tackle and 3 corners with size that can run, cover and tackle and one good fast sideline to sideline MLB. two cam's and our OLB'ers able to hold the edge better against the run. at least more consistently. if that's the scheme we want to play get the right type of player to fill the need. we expect a troy and a shazier out of guys that are not. we expect cam out of lower budget players. TJ and highsmith have to consistently make a ton of plays. they don't it's more splash plays. i expect every team wants this as well but you can't find this in the bargain bin.

It's a bit mind-blowing considering he had over 120 tackles in 2021. I'm not in the Giants coaches room, but I assume these played a factor.
    • New defensive coordinator Wink Martindale whose system he supposedly struggle in
    • He tweeted “Free Me” after getting zero defensive snaps in a game
