Sportsurge is not an app. Use the internet option on the firestick and go a google search for the site.. sportsurge.net

I was hoping for apple TV; youtube may bundle a pile of crap as a requirement... but oh well, better than Direct TV which I can get where I live in California.

I used youtube TV to watch the World Cup. It was great! the DVR is very nicely integrated and the streaming was perfect. The user interface is kind of dumb, but once the game got streaming, had no issues.

The problem is I assume that means $300 per year plus a YouTubeTV subscription. Got to see how that compares with my current provider.

I have youtube TV that I share with someone who lives in the same town as me and I'd never go back to cable or directv. You can only watch 3 simultaneous streams, but it works for us and I really like youtube tv.

I had directv for yrs because I had to get that to have sunday ticket. Moved to a diff area in same town which is more wooded and I was able to get sunday ticket only without directv as I could not get directv at the new house. They have a package for apartment complexes, college students, houses who couldn't get satellite. This season sunday ticket has been terrible with bugs/glitches/issues of games freezing which has not been the case previous years. Someone mentioned dofu which I used for a couple years and this year some weeks sunday ticket felt like dofu, but that became unreliable with the stream going out, switching channels, bad quality that it became more of a pain to use dofu than I thought it was worth(great for games I had no interest in, but not to watch the steelers imho).

I'm sure youtube tv sunday ticket will be just as expensive if not more than directv, but the user experience will be better. I'm somewhat tech savvy, but I've never been inclined to try the vpn method or jailbroke firestick. I just feel like you constantly have to be moving on to the next free thing to get the channels to work.

We had a problem with Netflix and buffering about 8 years o
We had problems with Netflix buffering about 8 years ago or so. I explained to the wife that we didn't have the bandwidth to stream 2 movies simultaneously as well as me gaming online. As the kids got older and we had more devices I had to upgrade our set up with a faster cable modem, higher bandwidth, a new WiFi router that can handle more than 15 devices an had the new MIMO standards and did multiple bandwidth at 2.5 and 5.0. I added some wired switches and media servers to cut down on congestion. Biggest thing was upgrading our internet package for faster speeds and newer equipment. My suggestion is that if it's something you aren't into don't invest in streaming services. If you are interested in cutting cords get your son to help upgrade or find a neighborhood kid to do it. Kids around me know how to wire stuff better than I do and I went to school for networking and help desk.

That is way to much per game, you would be better off just buying the whole package.

This is awesome news. I have been using youtubetv for the last 2 years. I love it. The main reason I have not had Sunday Ticket is because I hate Direct TV. Now that the Ticket is on YouTube tv getting it is a no-brainer.

I have heard this many times and I cannot figure out what is going on with Prime. I too use a smart TV, and my signal rocks. It is super clear and I have yet to see any of the buffering many talk about.

If the feed is HD and you are downloading it per your internet connection, I don't see how it goes from crystal clear to crummy. That is an IP issue, not Amazon.

I've mentioned it a couple of times but I have DTV and also use a Firestick and subscribe to an IP service. Call it what you will, but I pay 15 a month for 4 feeds and I can get everything, and I mean everything. The service is called Cobra Hosting. You can look it up online. I think they have a free trial or you could just pay for a month to try it. It can buffer though. With over 400 local channel feeds though, I can switch to a city that is carrying the Steelers where the internet traffic might not be as heavy and it works. I've had it for over 2 years now.

One word of caution. Your VPN will kill your bandwidth by at least 50%, or that has what I have seen. So, if you have a 50mb down on your internet, your VPN will cut that in half or more thus your true speed will be 20mb. Truth be told, I do not use it that much but it does come in handy during football season and that includes college as well as the NFL. I've been lucky though with Sunday Ticket. In the 22 years I have had it, I only had to pay 2 times and that was at a half rate. The other times I got it for free. Calling DTV Retention before the season starts and crying a river about the competition with Dish or some other service, I have been able to get it for free and that includes this year. The bummer in all of this for me, is that after all these years, I might have to finally pay up if I do not use the Firestick and that IP service. So, there are some solutions.

I hope so. I'm not paying $65 for their TV package just so I can buy the Sunday Ticket.

This is what apple wanted but the NFL denied it because of the long standing relationships with fox and cbs.
I want this too. I had hoped NFL would just make it, all games, no matter what, on this format.
It looks like this will be the same 4 streaming platforms needed.

I agree. I keep hearing about posters on here commenting about the circle of death. I can pretty much guarantee it has nothing to do with the network and more to do with their outdated modem and/or router.

That's not a you problem though. That a location issue. It will happen no matter what online. Google will have more infrastructure on the edge to make sure that does not happen via Google cloud.
Overall the stream will be massively better.

VPN stands for "Virtual Private Network". VPNs encrypt your internet traffic and disguise your online identity. This makes it more difficult for third parties to track your activities online and steal data. I'm able to disguise my IP address and put my location anywhere in the world. For NFL games, I can put my home market anywhere I want.

For an example, I knew the steelers game was gonna be televised in the Southeast on regular TV. So I told my VPN to put my location in Atlanta. The peacock app will stream live Football from your local market. I tricked peacock into thinking I lived in Atlanta. Fyi... I really live in Kansas City Missouri

I purchased my VPN. It cost me under $90 for a 2 year subscription.

    DTV = Direct TV?
I can't stand those guys. Last I saw of them, I ran the guy off the property, and I threw the dish hit his truck... they've never been back.
    That was around 99.. lol.
I use Comcast Business class internet. Have never had an issue.
