I'm surprised it showed up in the box score that way because it sure looked like he was on a couple of tackles in limited playing time.

To be fair, they hit on Shazier. He really was a perfect fit for that defense before the injury.

And like's too hit people. Can you picture a huge NT (siaka Si) with Robinson and Jack at the ILB's. Our opponents in the division would cringe, then have a competent cb playing alongside Sutton. I like it.

He really does. The excitement and energy he demonstrated will benefit the D in the future.

I think so, too, but I'm assuming he still has a lot of work to do or we would be seeing more of him. He looked lost in pass coverage during preseason, so that is probably part of it.

They played with four down defensive lineman plus the edge guys. We literally had three defensive backs at times. Carolina telegraphed the run they were easy to scheme against. No way we play that way against any offense that has an inkling of being able to throw the ball.

He was only asked to stop the run. Therefore he had no worries about pass coverage. He simply read the RB and shot the gap. He also had four down defensive lineman in front of him to occupy blockers. He would not play the same with two down defensive lineman and being asked to cover the pass and read the RPO. I think in general are base scheme asks to much of the Inside Linebacker. Perhaps if they dedicated one Linebacker to covering the pass and they run blitzed the other one with a safety coming up to support the pass. Problem is we need the safeties to help our pours cornerbacks out. If we could actually get good cornerbacks to match up one on one it would free up the safeties to cover the middle of the field which would free up the linebackers to focus more on the run.

Good point. They just dared the Panthers to throw. With the exception of a few plays, it worked, but they just can't do that against most opponents.

Yes he has work to do . he needs to be tested in the passing game as well. I suppose he would not have even been playing if not for the fact Myles Jack was out.

That is probably true, but hopefully, they will work him in more the rest of the way. Maybe that will happen if they are eliminated from contention this weekend.

It would be nice to see Robinson out there for the next few games to see if there is anything there.

Jack is on the fence with his $11.25 million cap hit next year. Save $8.0 million if released.
And, Is there any reason to play Bush down the stretch? How does this help us next year?

Agreed. Would like to see how well rounded he is. Seems to have the go in him. Bush can find somewhere else to play. Another failed experiment.

We still might Roquan is a free agent after this year.

Wouldn't have made much sense for the Steelers to pay for a one year rental of Roquan for a team with a lot of holes that was likely going nowhere. Next year, after other holes are filled through f.a. and the draft, definitely makes more sense.
