With Ben playing it comes down to interceptions. Since 2007, Ben has started 10 games where he has thrown 2 or more interceptions, not counting the playoffs. From those 10 games, the Steelers' record is 2-8. Interestingly, Ben has only had 2 games (at Baltimore and at San Fran in 2011) with 2 or more in the last 3 years.

    Year - W - L - Games with 2 or more interceptions
    2007 - 11 - 5 - 3
    2008 -12 - 4 - 3 :herewego:
    2009 - 9 - 6 - 2
    2010 - 9 - 3 - 0
    2011 -11 - 4 - 2
    2012 - 6 - 3 - 0

    totals - 57 - 25 - 10
Therefore, given the rust from being injured, if Ben doesn't turn the ball over, chances are the Steelers win.

Absolutely agree to both of these. My list was by no means all inclusive. Keep adding to it...

If Ben can get as much time in the pocket as Batch got last week, this game will be over at halftime. Don't let Ben get hit = Steeler win.

The Chargers worry me for the same reason KC worried me. SD loses because they turn the ball over so often. We don't force turnovers. It's going to be more of a problematic game for us than it should be, just like the KC game was. When we play teams that normally turn the ball over and we can't force turnovers, it allows that team to stick around and have a chance to win.

That's true but Rivers has really been off the mark this year. I can't attest to that for every game, but the games I have seen, he's not played well. Hopefully that continues and he doesn't make any plays in crunch time this game.

i think they know our wr's are beat up right now. they know our qb is beat up right now. they know our run game isn't great. they know our o-line is beat up. they know they have to cover heath heavy.

i think paulson could have some say so in this game. we could be in alot of 2 TE sets. he may be the undercovered guy.

You should never count on that your team will get turnovers. If they come that's just a bonus. We are not good at getting turnovers and we are slower at scoring with long consuming drives that take a long time to score. That's why we have a lot of close games and have the potential to loose to the brownies, titans, raiders, etc. at the same time we could also beat any team.

That about sums it up for me, too. I'm not really worried about SD either. This is a team that does not travel well. With all their problems, I'm most looking forward to seeing Rivers pressured behind that battered line, and hopefully adding a couple picks to the 15 he already has.

the problem is their defense and our beat up offense. that worries me. rivers hasen't forgot how to score and our lack of picks doesn't bode well either. we are not getting to the qb much either. this game is in no way is a mismatch.

I was thinking the opposite about Rivers, not a very good year for him, that's a plus for us, not a negative.

Mt guess is Rivers has not forgotten how to throw the ball nor has he lost that ability. Instead, his supporting cast is weaker from catching the ball to giving him time to throw. Not to mention a terrible defense that has put them into a lot of predictable passing situations.

Every KC QB had really been off the mark too, and we almost blew that game. When it comes to beating teams that lose due to turnovers, we're going to struggle, because we don't get turnovers.

Ball control offense. Long 8 minute dink and dink drives that rest our Black Ice defense enough and wear theirs into the turf.

I thought when they were talking about the KC game that you cannot predict turnovers. Basing a prediction on that is just guessing.

he doesn't need a whole year. he's capable of a good game. we seem to have that effect on qb's for some reason. they always seem to have their best stuff for us.

Rivers is having a terrible year and has been running scared. He has made terrible decisions too. You can't blame him...his best receiver right now is a guy they picked up off the street a month or so ago (Alexander). Gates is a shadow of his old self and is only an average TE at this point. Losing Vincent Jackson has trashed their passing game because they don't have any difference-makers on offense any more...just a bunch of average receivers that can be covered most of the time by one decent DB. The NFL is all about matchups and they don't have anybody that really draws a double team. Add to that the fact that their OL is decimated by injuries and he doesn't have the time to throw the ball to the receivers who can't seem to get open. Rivers is reduced to zeroing in on his primary receiver and checking down to his #2...that's about it. Oh...and Ryan Matthews is a decent running back, but it's hard to go anywhere with that OL.

Bottom line: If we don't turn the ball over in scoring range or have a special teams mishap, we will shut them out!

the way I see it , if we can shut down the rats offense twice, what can SD bring with their scab receivers and their heartless, crybaby, QB? Pitts got the wrinkles out, it's time to leave the garbage teams in the dust, i feel this team just took it up another level last week and this is what you want with only 4 games remaining, this is the time you get hot then take it into the playoffs.

I would also like to see 5 yards per carry. Let's run it down their throat!

I'm more worried about how long it will take for Ben to shake the rust off than I am about anything else, coaches claim that for each week a QB sits out, it takes a quarter of a game for them to get back into rhythm, some coaches claim it takes a half of a game for each week out, under that scenario bens been out for 3 weeks which means he will be shaking rust for 3 quarters of this game, or if the half game scenario is true, he wont get any rhythm in this game...
