    https://triblive.com/sports/steeler...-pickett-pushes-back-on-social-media-critics/

There was a long discussion of where to put the blame for allowing Patrick Queen to rush untouched at the snap on the play that led to Pickett's concussion Sunday. Others tried to blame Pickett. Instead of digging through threads to find it, I figured I'd just share this here. I pointed out that it was the line's fault, most likely Dotson blowing his assignment. Turns out I was right.

“After I took my set, I saw (left tackle) Dan (Moore) coming my way. So I was like, ‘Dang, they must’ve said the other digit. Once I knew what it was, I knew where I messed up,” Dotson said.

The crap Dotson is taking on social media sucks, but he does need to play better.

Well Pickett did avoid Queen.. he got out that sack.

It was Roquan who suplexed him and his head into the ground. Some how grabs his face mask and they don't call anything there.
But yet the poor Dolphins get called for one against the Chargers that hardly looks bad.

NFL officiating is all over the place with roughing the passer calls.

Kenny probaly just needs to admit defeat there and pitch the ball out bounds and live to fight another day and not get damaged...

It's been several times throughout the season that they've allowed a pass rusher to go uncovered.
Sometimes they have to use their eyes too.

Pickett needs to learn to do a Brady and fold like a cheap suit under such pressure. It will help extend his career

Apparently Steelers design plays to have a free rusher at the QB and then throw hot to the RB behind the rusher. Issue is that it's just causing sacks and concussions:

OC is a loser and needed to go two years ago. But the decision by committee org is just happy to see improvement...

It is a play that is used. I don't agree with it.

He didn't really have much time to do that. I'm not blaming Dotson for the injury, but the play was blown up due to his error.

Run that play with an experienced QB. Don’t run it with a rookie. OC is absolutely clueless

This....this is what I'm getting at.
It's like do people remember Mike Vick....even in His latest years....a guy could walk to the line as a Blitzer, and He still couldn't identify Him...wouldn't change protection, wouldn't point it out. All of a sudden here would come 3 guys from the backside, and of course one would be free. LoL.
The OL, and Qb have to work together. Yes they will get tricked, but it can't be a sure thing.

Makes me wish all the more we had traded for Roquan. He's a guy you'd rather have on your side, instead of against him.

I did not expect Dotson to make the team coming out of camp

Only reason he did is the other option Greene is apparently worse

They had guys in position to make the blocks and the right call was made. Dotson just didn't execute his part properly.

The problem was he wouldn't have just cost them draft picks. He wants a huge contract. Until he gets that, he is a rental. Trading for a rental for this season made no sense at that time.

I don't even mind running it with a rookie, but you can't have the free rusher coming from 3 yards away like was the case with Queen. The QB doesn't have a chance to even pitch it to his RB in that case. Let the free rusher come from much further outside, not from almost under center. I don't hate the playcall, but man, why do our guys make so many mental errors?

It's not like we get beat 1 on 1 all the time. our guys have talent, but they make so many dumb mistakes.

Agreed. It seemed like they did something like this on a play against the Colts that ended up as a sack. Maybe in that case, you can put part of it on Pickett. This time? The line never gave him a chance.

If he would have just thrown it OB after the escape, he would still be in the pocket. 10yrds back from where he threw it from and loss of down for intentional grounding. He only made a couple of steps before getting slammed. I really thought the 2nd guy was going to miss the sack too... he was very close to getting past him.

I'm not sure they would have wanted Bush. It is no sure thing that they would have dealt him for Claypool.

I don't know and this is somewhat rhetorical, but if Dotson does his job, is KP less likely to get injured, or maybe doesn't get injured? Sounds like it could be the root cause of what happened? We'll never know of course but it appears the KD is sort of thinking this way. JMO>

I hear what you're saying. It just sucks that of all the teams in the NFL he ends up on a divisional opponent and arch rival.

And what about the other holes on the team, how are they going to fix those then?
