Not sure if you've ever seen a "smoked" cocktail, but my love saw this at a place we were staying at, asked me what my favorite scotch was, and I told her Islay Malt, Lagavulin or Laphroig. They had Lagavulin, and the guy "smoked" it for me. Holy ****, between the peat and the smoke, it was one of the best scotches I ever had.

Note: We have a rule. I only get to drink scotch or bourbon when we are at a terminal destination. The hotel we are staying at that evening, an AirB&b, or at home. Because, as much as I love her, she can't drive, and it's best I don't when drinking bourbon or scotch.

    I don't think I've ever had a Scotch.

I started drinking scotch when I started teaching, because it was so vile and nasty tasting that one glass lasted me a whole night, and I didn't have to worry about making an arse of myself.
And then someone introduced me to a really good Highlands single malt, which is nothing like a blend. Knockando, or something like that. And after that, I was hooked.

Scored a bottle of it a few months ago.

As much as I loved the Guinness Barrell Offerman Edition - and still do - I thought this one was even better.

    Still not 16 though. ;)

I haven’t tried the charred yet. I’ve had it for several months, but other offerings keep getting in the way.

Just curious....I seen some the other night, and I didn't get it because I didn't know if it was good. It looked like a white wine.

Pretty potent. It's 45 percent alcohol but I love Rye whiskey. Tin Cup is also a favorite of mine. Tin Cup has rye which is also very good

Four Roses Small Batch Select. This is a $55-$60 Bourbon in my area. The regular Small Batch is about $35 and is a very fine Bourbon by it's own right, IMO. The Small Batch Select is maybe the smoothest Bourbon I have ever tasted. I sip it neat.

I am a big fan of Diplomatico Reserva Rum. Also one I sip neat. There has been a change in distributor recently so it is unavailable here right now. Everywhere has sold out. This bottle runs me about $30-$35.

Other Whiskies I like to keep around include Jack Daniels #7(chilled), Bulleit Rye(neat), Bushmills Red Bush Irish(on the rocks), McCallan 12yr old Double Cask(neat or on the rocks).

Just found this post. I didn't read all 15 pages, but here are some of my faves living in bourbon country Louisville, KY!

Eagle Rare - Definitely agree on this one. Very good.

Blantons - will agree with the not impressed crowd. It's not bad and if you can get it for $60 like it should be then scoop it up. Most places selling for $180 or more. Not worth it. Little overrated IMO.

Buffalo Trace - always a solid go to.

Woodford - Woodford is good, but Woodford Double Oaked is phenomenal.

Wellers Special Reserve - FANTASTIC bourbon. Not easily found.

Elijah Craig - most of the varieties are good quality bourbon. EC Toasted is fun and a bit stronger than most of the toasted varieties out there.

Old Forester - great bourbon for the price point.

JTS Bottled in Bond - very cheap but surprisingly good.

I could go on and on, but those are just a few fun ones off the top of my head.

I got lucky with the state liquor lottery and got a bottle of Pappy for $99

I won’t drink it so I gave it to my nephew in law who is trying to be a bourbon connoisseur

Again about 50 years ago but shortly after the tequila drunk I was in a room with about 10 females who were passing a bong

I was not big into weed but hey I was in to 10 women as options so I figured I’d take a hit

I did not know they put tequila in the bong

I abruptly had to leave the room

I went home alone after that

    :swoon:

I've never had any luck with the state lotteries. And something tells me Pappy is good, but not THAT good. But it would still be cool to have a bottle (at MSRP).

But we plebs can be happy with hundreds of other whiskies that are great at reasonable prices.

My nephew has friends over for tastings and didn’t let them drink it

I think he is definitely going for the cool factor

LoL. I won't go into it, but the reason Tequila....even the smell make Me gag....also has to do with weed, women, and Tequila. LoL
