Not only isn’t he good, he’s also not young. If he were an AFC starting QB, he’d be among the oldest starters. Mahomes, Allen, LaMarr, Burrow, Watson, Tua, Mac Jones, Zack Wilson, Trevor, Herbert and KP are all younger. Mason Rudolph is younger.

if you’re looking for a 3rd string QB, why would you pick a nearly 28 yr old guy with almost zero NFL game experience over a 22 yr old guy that you might e able to develop?

I noticed that also. Only other QB that I saw Ben look to be close to was Charlie Batch.

I heard he contracted with Depeche Mode to redo their song. "Your own. Personal. Tebow"!

I read a snippet where NASA is going to expand their program again

Apparently depending on the private sector has potential drawbacks

And for some reason depending on the Russians and Chinese isn’t real reliable either

Yeah, but that pass he threw out of the end zone against the Raiders for the first down when it was third and forever will firmly entrench him in Steelers lore for all of eternity.

That was against the Ravens. The Raiders were the opponent the one time he got significant playing time in a game while with the Steelers and he sucked.

I keep thinking like why doesn't Josh Dobbs like hang it up and go be a rocket scientist.

But then I see... he has made $5 Million in career earnings over 6 seasons, thus far.

So if you lose like 10% to your agent and 35% to Uncle Sam and different states income tax...

Guy still had to pocket some where around $2.5-2.75 million. Not too bad in 6 years time.
Plus who knows if he got to take in little endorsement money here are there or something.

Plus I think he had enough active time he probably gets NFL health insurance and pension money for the future.

Can't get that deal at NASA, Space X or Blue Orgin

    That excuse just doesn't work.

The offense started slowly, but from late second quarter through the end of the game, they were unstoppable on the drives with Roethlisberger in the game, terrible on the drives with Dobbs at quarterback.

Yeah having a couple of million of dollars in the bank isn't a bad way to start your real career.

To me, that supports the theory that everyone has about our OCs after Haley left. They are all clueless. Ben hid their incompetencies with his playmaking skills.

Perhaps, but I read it as an excuse for the poor performance by Dobbs, which it is not.

Engineering pays well, but not NFL well. He’d be essentially an entry level engineer. That might get him $75k/yr. But nowhere near NFL minimum.

Your estimate may be right, but the salary could be higher. My nephew had a job lined up making over $100,000 a year before he even completed his engineering program.

I just pulled avg starting salaries from a salary survey put out by a professional organization that I belong to. I’m sure there are guys who make higher starting salaries depending on location, skills/discipline, shortage thereof, etc. But even if Dobbs is offered a $150k eng job, he’s still making far, far less than holding a clipboard as a 3rd string QB even at the NFL minimum.

Good to see that Dobbs has a backup plan now that his football career has fizzled out. I’d like to see him take a shot at coaching.

Aditi mentioned Dobbs this evening on 93.7 The Fan. She said leading up to the Bucs game last week that when the coaching staff implemented the pass to David Njoku that was the winning catch, Brissett didn't like the play. She said that Dobbs and the other backup Kellen Mond said that they should keep the play in for near the goal line. Dobbs and Mond pointed out that the Bucs would surely put Devin White on Njoku and that it would be a 5" height advantage for Njoku. Plus they said that at one point in the pattern White would have to turn his back on the pass and that's when Brissett should let it fly. The coaching staff kept it in and it was a big play in the win. Dobbs might actually might have a career in coaching he's certainly smart enough.
