#4 pick won't be enough to fix this mess. We need Top 2.

They need 5 top 5 picks to be relevant

If the Steelers get a top 5 pick, I would trade down and add a 1st for 2024. Someone will do that.

So predictable and right on cue.

Nobody is trading future 1st for 3, 4, or 5th pick. Franchise QBs probably going 1-2.

These are the top three QB picks of the first round since 2015. I'm not sure about guaranteed franchise quarterbacks coming out of college if you spend a top 3 pick on QB. Joe Burrow is the best of the lot so far.

    2021
    Trevor Lawrence #1 overall pick
    Zach Wilson #2 overall pick
    Trey Lance #3 overall pick

    2020
    Joe Burrow #1 overall pick

    2019
    Kyler Murray #1 overall pick

    2018
    Baker Mayfield #1 overall pick
    Sam Darnold #3 overall pick

    2017
    Mitchell Trubisky #2 overall pick

    2016
    Jared Goff #1 overall pick
    Carson Wentz #2 overall pick

    2015
    Jameis Winston #1 overall pick
    Marcus Mariota #2 overall pick

You’re kind of proving my point. I want the high pick solely to trade back for the draft capital. We need it. We have too many holes on this roster.

It’s all about what another team is willing to give up and believes. If they really like one of these QBs and think he’s their franchise QB. They will trade the house to get him. If we have pick 4-10 nobody is trading the house to move up for a OL or edge rusher.

It doesn’t matter though. Tomlin will screw this up like he always does.

Good info. If this doesn’t tell you that drafting a QB with one of the top three picks is a crap shoot then nothing will. It’s ridiculous at how many people are suggesting that we should take one of these “can’t miss” quarterback prospects in the first round this upcoming draft. We’ve got our quarterback. Now we need to hire a qualified OC to aid in his development and draft/sign some big uglies to protect him.

The Steelers would have the #10 pick overall if the season ended today. The Eagles would have the #4 pick because they have the Saints pick.

High picks flop a lot. I am a fan of trading them for volume as Joe Gibbs used to do.

So this one pointless win takes us out of potentially getting Will Anderson, Skoronski, and Porter Jr.

You know who will be around in the teens? That lineman from Maryland. That’s exactly who we are going to get.

    Draft profile

That’s got Tomlin and Steelers all over it. Shows “some” athleticism but a team Captain. So more mediocrity.

I am going to give Khan and Weidel a chance with where ever they end up picking. I guess Devin Bush cancels out the Rod Woodson #10 pick in the history book.

We could’ve traded back and still got Watt if they were so sure about him. Then we would’ve had two 2nds and 3rds that year. Then two 1st in 2018.

I’m not going to hindsight and say oh we would’ve taken Mahomes or Allen. But I think the most realistic scenario if traded back and took Watt. Had two 1st in 2018. We could’ve probably got Minkah and not given up a 2020 1st for him. Then we never draft Edmunds. A lot of scenarios that would’ve made us a better team and still got Watt.

Just when, I get used to us losing, and thought we would have a top 5 pick. We Go and win a game. Now, we have to win 6 out of the last 8 games ... smh.

I was excited about maybe getting the 4 th overall pick and kind of ticked off they dropped all the way to tenth win one win against short handed bad team.
I thought they would earn that 4 th pick they have looked so bad at times. Yesterdays win was still a win and enjoyable to watch them finally find a running game and use the middle of the field.
Tanking is a poor option I think it creates a bad attitude in the locker room.
Where they draft next spring is still hard to predict they just have so many needs they cannot reach. Linemen in the first two rounds preferably both offensive linemen but on OL and one DL would be ok to.

Exactly. I hate tanking. It's stupid. I've seen more players who work for the team in late first round vs top 15.

Of course it wouldn't. 49ers would have probably taken Watt at 31 for one thing.

We'd then be banking on whoever we traded with still finishing badly enough to give us a pick at 11 if we were to pick up Minkah.

But given the scenario we'd be picking at 37, we could easily have gone with Budda Baker, then still wouldn't have picked Minkah.

If it were as easy as SDOT makes out, you can bet that GMs would be doing it...

This guy's schtick is barely a rash on the irritating scale.
Way too many hours spent on Madden 97 -> 22.

I lost it on the TJ Watt scenario.. can't be more wrong.

Can yinz read? He asked me what would’ve happened if we had a Top 5 pick the year we took Watt. Basically implying we never get Watt.

If we had a Top 5 pick that year and they were for sure about Watt. They could’ve traded back and got him. Simple.
