This whole premise of a 1 pick deal or striving to get the #1 pick is far-fetched at best.
1 pick, even if it is a premier player, isn't going to fix everything. (It certainly helps as long as you don't pick a Ryan Leaf/Brian Bosworth type)
Even if they trade the #1 to 2 first round picks, you have to score on those picks.

This will take a couple drafts and mixed Free Agency.
I prefer they draft along the lines of scrimmage and get a good stable built there - they need to protect the franchise QB.
They also need to get good on defense, develop a good rotation to the front 7 fresh.

There's also a forgotten element, or maybe overlooked.

Sometimes there is just a great mix of players that just fits together.

What would be nice is to get something similar to what JJ got for the Girls via Hershal Walker deal. Not sure exactly how that went down but it propelled them to rings that I don't believe otherwise would have happened. JMO>

I don't know if this could happen anymore. Jimmy Johnson orchestrated that, it was a masterpiece, and then Washington did the same with Ditka.
So, I suspect a 3rd time would be tough to pull off.
I'm all in if it can be done.

Omar Khan's right hand man Andy Weidl comes from the Eagles, and they built up both lines of scrimmage, hopefully he can do the same for the Steelers .

 

The whole premise is if we get a Top 3 pick we can fleece a team and trade back. We can get a later 1st and another next year and two 2nd rounds this year. Next year have two 1st and two 2nds. That’s the type of draft capital we need to fix this mess. I agree one #8-15 pick player isn’t fixing this disaster.
