<--------------Obviously, I love Polamalu as much as anybody. But with this nagging injury at almost 32 years old, and with the history of injuries he's had, if he has another 1st quarter exit on Sunday, is the writing on the wall for trying to find his replacement in 2013? I believe it is...

    thoughts?

Way too early to tell. Who knows what will happen during the offseason.

Yeah but tom Shaw takes it to another level. Think about ike, farrior, and gay when have/did they ever have lower body injuries and what are all of troys injuries. Shaw really focuses on flexibility in the legs for dbs

Well, I dont know that he will be replaced in 2013, but I am certain the Steelers will be looking for his replacement in the 2013 draft.

I will say this, I love Troy and I love what he brings to this team when he plays. Him playing hurt in the Super Bowl against GB, while warrior-like, left us really short handed on the back end as far as I am concerned. He started guessing and that had a bad outcome a lot. If Troy comes back and gets hurt or re-hurts the same calf, the FO is gonna have to consider what to do. That is just the reality. He makes too much money to just sit on the sidelines for us.

So you think this isn't Ike's last season with us or just that Troy would train with him regardless?

No I don't think this is ikes last season with us. I'm not sure brown will be ready to step up yet.

Don't we also have that Golden kid too? I think to keep Ike we're gonna have to pay like 3 million or something.

The Steelers really like Cortez Allen as well.

As for Troy, the rest of this season will determine Troy's long-term viability with the team. If he continues to struggle with these nagging injuries, his days as the dynamic playmaker we all know and love may be over.

Any talk involving Troy and his injuries should start including Woodley and his nagging injuries, Ben and his 2-4 games missed per season, Harrison and his aches and pains, Pouncey and his playoff absences, Colon and his glass body, Mendy and his frailness, and the walking injury Leftwich. As long as Troy can play at a high level, which he can, he should have a roster spot. I understand the concern if he were to go down again this game, I get it, but he deserves another offseason and a shot at a healthy 2013 based on what he's done and what he's still capable of.

If they let him suit up on Sunday...they need to limit him. Let Allen start...and put Troy in the game during certain situations/packages/etc. Ease him back in and go from there. The future? Obviously within the next couple years they HAVE to get replacements for Troy AND Clark unfortunately.

    I agree with you 100%:
Woodley should be at the top of the list. He stays hurt and is never in shape. If he can't stay healthy, he is a detriment to the team. Colon is second, this should be the last draw for him, not to mention his bad play all the time, his holding penalties are just to much and injured again, PLEASE! Mendenhall should be gone. I know the Steelers will not offer him a big contract next year. A first round draft pick who has really done nothing to be excited about. He is not Ray Rice! An last but certainly not least is Leftwich who shouldn't even be on the team with his injury prone self. I mean this guy is terrible and gets injred every year, not to mention that he is not good. They should stop fooling around and release him now. Don't let him stick around until the off season.

It would be best for everyone if Troy followed Aaron Smith to retirement, both beloved players but alot of money sitting on the sidelines.

think you still look for his eventual replacement regardless of what he does in this game and the remainder of the season.

Wait, so... when I read the title I thought, "Why on earth would Sunday be his final straw? What about next week? The week after that? Next year? The year after that?" But after reading your post... if I understand you correctly, you're saying that if he gets injured again, that's the final straw and it is time to start looking for his replacement? Well, sure. In fact, I think they'll be looking for his replacement even if he has three interceptions tomorrow. And Clark's a year older, right? And even though he misses less time, he gets more concussions. They'll be looking for a safety for either spot (knowing Tomlin, a guy who can play both spots), and they'll take what they can get if he's good value.

I think Troy has two years left on his contract, I maybe wrong? The Steelers
and Troy will honor this contract@ maybe something both parties could live with?

Troy's Kamikaze style of play over the years may have finally caught up with him. That being said, I can't recall a player in the NFL that has been as good as him and nothing but class at the same time. Troy is probably the main reason that Steeler Nation has increased by millions over the last eight years!

his kamikaze style didn't have anything to do with this type of injury. maybe not resting it a week when he first did it, may have something to do with it. if mundy would have played well enough at the time maybe they sit troy for that week to heal, but we were playing bad at that time. i think troy should add a new wrinkle WITH who we have playing now. the d is looking solid, adding him to it now should confuse flacco a little more. i hope troy is ray rice's best friend today. 3 safeties, sit foote.
