This is what happens when a HOF QB isn't around to compensate for Cheerleader Tomlin's incompetence.

There's more blocking going on in these forums than on our O line.

I did not say I don't hold Ben without blame or any other player that failed at execution during their career. MT as a HC has not been able to put a staff, roster, in-game adjustments in place to take advantage of a HOF QB. I will not as a fan accept this new definition of championship football MT is feeding the fanbase.

My take on what was originally posted by the OP, for what its worth and I can remember that far back, is that the longer this team continues performing as it has been, the more valid the threads title may appear. Not saying it's true or not, but it will be talked about more and more with Ben gone now. As with anything in the NFL, winning solves nearly all of the issues. MT has a pretty good legacy going for him but not being able to do anything without Ben may start damaging it somewhat. MT will be Canton bound but what he doesn't want to hear is "yes, MT is a HOF coach, but......." JMO>

This I can’t argue with. Hopefully Art will awaken from his slumber at some point and realize this as well. Otherwise we will become Pirates 2.0

IMO Tomlin's legacy as a coach has dropped, the look at me I coached a mediocre winning season record only to get embarrassed in a wild card game. My hope at the beginning is he would bring playoff runs back through Pittsburgh. Now we celebrate 500 seasons as special. I guess I'm old and expect to much.

What exactly did Chuck Noll accomplish without Bradshaw?
What has Belichik accomplished without Brady?
How many titles did Lombardi win without Starr?
Which titles did Walsh win without Montana?
    Stram without Dawson?
How many SBs did Marv Levy get to without Kelly?
    Shanahan without Elway?

Clearly, if Tomlin doesn't win something without Ben, it will be a complete indictment on his coaching abilities.

Lombardi would have won with you at quarterback :smiley1:

I think most of us (society in general) just listen and debate the good with the bad

Unfortunately there are a few on either fringe who just make an excess of useless noise

It was clear I was speaking about Tomlin and his complete lack of leadership skills as a coach... Tomlin does not even come close to Ben's leadership abilities, to bad the Rooney's did not hit the rest button on this coaching staff after Ben's retirement.

Good point. The only exception that I can think of is Joe Gibbs who won 3 rings with 3 different QB's. Tom Landry was always in the championship hunt with Dandy Don and Craig Morton but he didn't win it all until he got Staubach.

Your big problem is that you used the word woke in your opening statement. That's like blood in the water for a lot of these old boys.

    Good observation on Gibbs.

My point was that a coach only winning titles with a HoF QB is very common and not necessarily indicative of some coaching shortcoming. The league is just real hard and any coach, no matter how good, can't win without talent.

Other examples I thought of: Bud Grant never got to a SB without Tarkenton. Jimmy Johnson only won with Aikman.

Not really but if you want to argue about it you should find someone that cares about that.

Tom Flores is another example (given Plunkett was a largely a back up once he left NE) but I agree with @KMM ‘s point

I think Lombardi would have won with Jurgensen had he lived. But yeah, you are correct. Siefert in Carolina is another great example.
