Unpopular opinion: even with a healthy TJ Watt this is a sub-.500 team

Watt is amazing but he can't single handedly make this Charmin-soft defense above average. Unless we get turnovers we can't get stops.

Don't look at week 1 --- Cincy is actually pretty awful and that's why they are 0-2 so far. 7 sacks was a fluke. We might not get 7 more sacks until week 12 at this rate.

The offense sucks and putting in Pickett won't help. The biggest problem is the coaching and cowardly play calling.

Najee should be benched for Warren. I don't care that Najee was a 1st round pick and Warren was undrafted.

Witherspoon needs to ride the pine.

Gunnar needs to be benched. Dude either doesn't even try to catch punts or muffs them.

A healthy TJ Watt means this team finishes 7-10 rather than 5-12.

The only bright spot is we no longer have to hear "But Tomlin has never had a losing season..." after this year.

With Watt, they are at least 2-1, possibly 3-0 right now. It isn't just an unpopular opinion. It is a stupid one.

I would say .5 even, not sub .500

I predicted 8-9 and was assuming he was in there, so I guess I have to agree

With Watt this is a lower tier playoff contender that slogs it’s way to enough close wins to be in the mix. Something like 10-7. Watt is that good. The opposing offenses have to design their game plans to keep him from wrecking the game, and that creates opportunities for the other guys. It also gets into the opposing QBs’ heads. Don’t you think they’re always cheating a glance to their right to see if Watt is about to get last their RT? They absolutely do.

Not with the way this defensive line is playing. They got manhandled last night. Would Watt have helped? Absolutely. But not to the extent of them not getting gashed. Alualu unfortunately is done. Heyward was getting stonewalled. Lets not leave the linebacking core out of the picture either. And Witherspoon as was mentioned needs to be benched. He is a liability with his play. And where was Fitzpatrick?

Watt can't play all 11 positions when he comes back. They got manhandled plain and simple. And we are not even in the meat and potatoes of the schedule yet.

You know this because you live in a parallel universe where he played in those games? Always funny when people make claims based on a "shoulda coulda woulda". How bold of you to think this team deserved a 3-0 with Watt. As far as I remember, we almost lost to the Bengals WITH TJ in embarrassing fashion despite of a turnover ratio of +5, if it was not for the bengals inability to finish that game. Rushing defense was nowhere to be seen against cleveland, Offense struggled mightily again in second half. This team has so many problems and you assuming we would stand 2-1 or 3-0 with Watt is really the stupid opinion here.
I think it would have been more likely to lose the bengals game and stand at 0-3 now, with TJ playing in all games.
