How is that off topic? Screenshot_20220922_081201.jpg

Are you familiar with cowher numbers? Are you aware he entered the same amount of post seasons as tomlin as well?

See CK's post. Teams don't usually know who the replacement will be when they fire a coach. I don't think the Steelers knew they were going to hire Tomlin. It is absolutely valid to say the Steelers need to move on even if you don't have a replacement in mind.

It's not like I presented a complex algorithm. Just starting a conversation to see if anyone had somebody in mind. I'll go then:
Right off the top of my head, Ken Dorsey?
Is he ready for a head coaching job? Do you like his scheme or is it all based on the talent he has? Do you want an offensive minded coach or defensive?
See how easy that was? And I literally just picked a random O.C. that has a good offense. No thought put into it at all. I would imagine that people who badly want Tomlin gone would have put a great deal of thought into it.

Let me clarify that I didn't start this thread as "name a replacement or shut the f#$k up about Tomlin." I am genuinely asking if anyone has thoughts on who that could be. That is absolutely a valid question.

Judging by the last 3 hires, scan the league for DCs in their 30s and you'll find the potential candidates.

It is, but the tone of your posts did seem to imply that anybody saying the Steelers should get rid of Tomlin must justify it by offering up a replacement. That isn't how it works. That isn't even how teams do it most of the time.

I don't know what this means to my comment that "My only problem with Tomlin is that he is a little too quick to promote the next coach up"

This problem explains why Tomlin does not have a great coaching tree of all his former assistants. Most coaches when they leave the Steelers are going home, not getting a better job with another team.

Right now I believe that there were better options out there when Tomlin promoted from within both Canada and Austin.

Hence the clarification you just responded to.
You keep bringing up the team as if I'm suggesting they're already looking. I understand the hiring/ firing practices of the team. This was merely a round table discussion of possible candidates, nothing more. Don't make this harder than it needs to be.

I don’t hate Tomlin, but it frustrates me he doesn’t seem able to find a halfway decent OC. That’s part of his job.

That is something most of us can agree on. I'll wait a few weeks for absolute judgment but the results don't look good so far.

Do we have to go through this EVERY year? I doesn't matter who a replacement is, there will be the usual suspects on here that won't like the new guy either!

It isn't just offensive coordinator. He has made far too many poor hires for assistant jobs. He hasn't been able to find a decent offensive line coach sine Munchak left. Porter was a terrible coaching hire.

It's always scary when these college coaches make the jump to the NFL as a head coach. Ideally you would like to see them get some experience as a coordinator first.

No rules and, I wasn’t singling you out. It’s just that this subject comes up any time the team loses. There’s never any concensus on a replacement. It’s always, “anybody would be better….”
