Defense played. I understand sacks didn't happen. But they're just sexy. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you realize our defense did very well. Specially with mitch constantly putting them into bad situations. Hate it for the kick returner, but he even put the defense in a horrible position, as well as a penalty on top of that.

Hate it for withetspoon. He really thought it was an interception. And that WR pulled off a hard catch. So I can't be mad at him..... and yes, you say swat the ball. But turnovers helped us last week win. And clearly that's what it was going to take again.

Sutton plays hard. He had that catch, but missed it.

Everyone on our defense is great. Even Jack is stepping up.... only person I question is what is going on with Bush continuing to be out there. I would sit that boy. Either he wants to play or not, and if not he can go get a cheap contract with a crap team next year.

Our offense line is better than what pre season showed. And we can see later today that it started to open holes for harris.

Warren is a great backup. We needed someone to take the pressure off Harris.

Glad to see Claypool playing and not running his mouth. Johnson makes impressive catches

Boykn is great on special teams.

    And lastly ravens lost!!!!

The only thread I was expecting after this game was to see pickett threads. But nope some of y'all went full stupid with blaming defense...... I think some of y'all don't watch the game. You just look at the end of what the points are.

You mean you didn’t want to start a whole thread in the wrong section about the ravens?

We were getting eaten alive on short crossing routs.

They gotta sort that out STAT!

No not getting pressure on the QB is a big deal. Yes they only gave up 17 points. The offense they played was awful. If you get that lack of pressure against someone like Buffalo you probably give up 50.

absolutely. Between that turnover and the offense looking worse than last year, that’s much more of a factor for the loss.

I’m just pointing out that sacks and more so just getting pressure is very important.

There's a problem that has existed for at least 3 years, maybe longer, and it showed today.

Far too often there is an open receiver right in the middle of the field with no defenders in sight, and it's an easy completion for opposing QBs. Happened several times today, and happened some last week. It's something I've been complaining about for several years, and still seems to be an issue.

Sacks may be "sexy" but they are the direct result of quarterback pressure, of which there was very little in this game. There was only 1 tackle for loss and 3 qb hits. You don't have to sack him but even when they flushed him they didn't contain him and they weren't forcing errant throws. He had A LOT of time on a few of them throws.

I'm not arguing with you that the defense lost this game, or even that they played that bad but I think you seriously devalue quarterback pressure.

The defense isn’t remotely a problem with this team. You knew the pressure was going to suffer without Watt but they didn’t lose this game because of the defense.

It’s the lifeless offense, two games in a row. They have to get aggressive.

Your posts are worthless when you have to be the first to reply.

Without Watt, we're done unless we bring in Pickett to light some spark.

The defense was mostly solid. Mostly. The last NE possession was painful to watch. 6:33 left on the clock, and we have 2 timeouts left. We KNOW they’re running, and yet we get gashed over and over and over. Yes the offense was terrible with its 3 and outs leading up to that, but the defense has to get a stop at some point during that 6:33 and give Mitch one more chance to throw a 3 yard pass on 3rd and 8.

No Ben in the 4th Qtr to bail the team out anymore by throwing out the playbook and making up plays in the dirt to get his 4th Qtr. comeback.

When Mitch is bad in the 1st QTR, you can bet he will be running those same plays in the 4th Qtr. and still be just as bad. :(

I believe that problem coincided with the drafting of Edmunds, but I could be wrong.

A couple of positives….. The offense went 8 for 15 on 3rd downs; not terrible. The rest of the division lost as well. Boz was solid and so was Boykin on special teams.

    That's all I got.

    Didnt you mention something like
Sacks are sexy num num I like sacks yum yum.
    (Jk jk jk jk)

I'm paraphrasing, it's probably a misquote because it was a different thread.

I guess I'm just not sure if the D was good or you're saying sacks just look good in the box score and not a clear indication of level of play.

Also, love the opening line "defense played."
    Absolute Gold.

You're 100% correct though. The D, again, looked great while getting 0 offensive support.

Sweet jeep btw I got one too!

Damn good D for the most part without Watt today. Boys got tired and undoubtedly pretty uninspired by the lack of fruition from their counterpart brothers. Really asking too much for them to cover all hiccups and inadequacies to be honest especially after carrying the O’s lunch pail last week. Now on a short week nonetheless heading into Thursday night.

That's an excellent point. And I saw a pregame show a few years ago when we were competitive that diagramed how Brady and the Pats did exactly that. killed us on crossing routes. anybody else remember that well enough to explain it?

The old back to lab is getting old. Our ILB's still can't drop into coverage or cover anybody.

Wrong person. I don't have a horse in this race. I said I was prepared to jump on the bandwagon of all 3 QBs this season. Off 1 Bandwagon and onto the Next for me this season when it comes to starting QBs.

I am now believing that Kenny will start in Week 4 after the 10 Day break. I am not holding much hope in Mitch lighting it up against Cleveland on Thursday.

Depth Chart Prediction: Kenny, Mason and then Inactive Mitch for Week 4.

Closing games out also has been an issue as is the case here. The offense's two possessions toward the end of the game in the 4th qtr couldn't even get a first down and when we gave the ball over with about 6 minutes couldn't get it back. Issues on both sides of the ball it looks like to finish the game. JMO>

Yes but can’t expect the defense to be perfect especially at that point in the game when the offense has given them very little time off the field.

There are parts of their game the defense needs to work on, namely the run defense but otherwise, it’s a top notch unit.
