Are the Steelers tanking

Are they trying to win the Paris Johnson sweepstakes in the 2023 draft? It would be a very unSteeler like thing to do, but some of the play selection and the lack of throwing downfield really makes me wonder.
I’m pig-biting mad!

The Steelers that I saw perform within the past two weeks do not appear to be tanking to me; doubly so in their win against Cincy. Their ineptitude on offense largely goes to both Matt Canada and Mitch Trubisky. Until both improve, expect more of the same.


One final note; Pittsburgh does not tank. Has not happened since Chuck Noll took over and never will. There is way too much pride in that locker room for something like that to happen and never mind the Head Coach himself. Heck, Minkah's play alone within the first two weeks should give one a good idea that the Steelers do not concede any game.

 

Hell No.....it's really simple. The offensive play calling is not great, and 2 make matters worse......the Qb running it maybe the worst Qb on the team. I swear .....I don't know if I've seen this many guys open, and not thrown at since........

You are giving them too much credit. The simplest answer is always the correct answer: they are simply incompetent.

 

STD, I agree that Trubisky may be the worst QB on the team. So why are they playing the worst QB on the team? Waiting to get the Oline good enough that they don’t get Pickett killed?

 

If I had to guess.....I would say Owners, GM,and Coach ....
1. Don't want to admit they made a bad choice going for Trubisky, and .....
2. They are being stubborn.....so basically the same thing. LoL
That's all I can think of. It's kind of like some of the people on this board that were just sure Trubisky was the answer.....now instead of admitting they were wrong.....they are now blaming everything else.
Only difference is the owner, coach, and GM have power.

Of course they are tanking. No steelers team could possibly just suck. If history has taught us anything we know who is what by week 2 of the freaking season.

It's more than just the playcalling. It's the designs as well. He's running college stuff that just throws window dressing on simple concepts and just hoping the talent wins out.

Watching these other coordinators single out guys and take advantage of them it is painfully obvious that Canada might be out of his league. Pats defense is suspect and the plays were there, Mitch had more time than Ben last year on many of those pass plays.

 

Hell no.... tanking never gets you anything. In fact it hurts your organization very badly.

 

Clapypool Johnson and Pickens are a good three WR set.

Warren and Najee are two good backs

muth and gentry two good TEs

O line doing better but still can’t run block.

Mitch and Canada are terrible, that’s it. Once those get changed we should be a good team lol

Hahaha, I meant this thread to be taken sarcastically, which is why I ended my original post with “I’m pig-biting mad”, often said by Ed Anger, angry columnist for the Weekly World News back in the day. I do think they are trying to develop the o-line so that Pickett does not get turned into chopped meat when he gets to play. Trubisky has no time to make downfield plays before the pocket collapses. I don’t think that a clone of Johnny Unitas could play very well behind this line.
I do believe this team will take at least two drafts to fix, including the one we just had.

 

The " Tomlin effect " He's just not good...This team will not win until he is gone...And that's not gonna be anytime soon unfortunately!
