All teams struggle without a good QB. The talent is fine, just need to get Ben back so the ball can find it's way to them.

I'm sorry but Charlie Batch was hardly the problem in this game. Did he come out like a field general and lead drives down the field to put points on the board? No but then again that wasn't the game plan. When your plan to run the football and you don't have your starting guard playing and your top three running backs fumble then aren't allowed to work it off on the field things are going to be tight. When you don't go 3 Wr or dual TE and work the zone coverage you are limiting yourself and when it is third and manageable and you don't have faith that Batch can make a four yard completion that can work against you. The Browns came in and dictated how the Steelers were going to play them and it worked. Charlie can only do what is asked of him. I think it was a bad game plan all around. I would have used Pope and Plax more maybe Paulson as well and really forced the mismatches.

Charlie should never be asked to go deep or throw the sideline out pass again. There is not enough zip on the ball...they just float there....

Whoops...this just in...The Browns just intercepted another one

Tomlin Era, take off the rose colored glasses. For starters, this team has lost to the Raiders, Titans and now the Browns. Good teams beat these type of teams. As for the talent being fine...start with the OL.

And might I add, Chuck is out there with two backups on the ol (and in the case of beachum, a back ups-backup) and a whack game plan that had him winging it forty yards down the field.

well at least we found out two things , how important is ben for this team , and we will have to talk about two new qb faces next year , sound exciting doesn't have to see the two mummies again , maybe we will find a new young promise for the future who knows , but at least new faces in town

charlie was as much of the problem as the rest of the offense. this is the nfl and you just can't expect to run ,run, run and expect to win. at least with a young 3rd stringer he has the option to run with the ball and make things happen. they knew where charlie would be and knew we would run. those passes deep should have been well limited for charlie. the arm stregnth just isn't there anymore. they should have seen that in practice. medium range , he didn't suck as bad. he was however locked onto sanders. i would have rather they threw to rainey instead of heath on the very short dumpoffs, at least more of a chance to get some breakaways. it's over and we move on though.

Charlie was having trouble making the simplest throws, I'm sorry but he was very much part of the problem. He couldn't make short throws and he couldn't make long throws, Cleveland had no reason to fear our passing game, allowed them to focus on stuffing the run and our RB's helped them out plenty.

Charlie tipped his hat to the clowns because excuses are for the weak minded who don't believe that the standard is the standard... who am I kidding? Charlie is waaaayyyyy past his expiration date. Someone get Charlie Methusalah his walker and some geritol before the AARP gets all up in the Rooney's shiz for elder abuse.

I would have no problem with Byron coming back on the one year at a time plan....but this is it for Charlie.

I don't think they were expecting to run run run I think they were expecting to run a successful rushing attack Mac and working everything off of that, play action miss direction, screens and so on. using a short passing attack to keep them off-balance and from stacking solely against the run. Yes Charlie can share the blame for the loss as everyone should but to say the game was lost due just to him sucking the big one is just not the case. But you are right it is over and we move on.

My preference would be to just hold a clip board all game....and hand Ben his hat after TD's

Even though your comment is tongue-in-cheek, both of our backups have demonstrated that the potential for them to lay an egg is just as great or greater than their potential to eek out a W. That being the case, wouldn't you rather see a young guy (even a rook) holding the clipboard. Someone with some potential and something to prove. A guy like a young Roethlisberger that we could get excited about with huge upsides. A guy like Kapernick with the 9ers. Most of us are scared to death when we know Ben is out because it is a crapshoot with our backups. At least with a young guy with potential, we would be more forgiving of mistakes and would be more likely to rally behind them.

My problem with Kapernick is he was a 2nd round pick....you want to use a 2nd rounder on a clip board holder?

Kap was not brought in to groom...he was brought in to replace......and the Kapernicks of the world are few and far between.....You are much more likely to have Graham Harrell to Rodgers, or Chase Daniel to Brees or even Dennis Dixon to Ben....than you are to have wunderkind Kapernick to Smith, or Rodgers to Farve or Brady to Bledsoe

My wish list....bring back Lefty for another go round....I would like to see T. Pryor come in and play a slash role. Pryor was the fastest and smoothest college QB I ever saw....throwing the ball....well he was ok...and had a good arm...but man can that boy move.

He would be good for coming in for a driver or two but he cannot last a full 4 quarters and I agree, Charlie is gone

Go grab Chandler Harnish off the Colts practice squad. He is similar to Kaepernick (who everyone loves right now- not much different than Smith though) . I am a MWC fan and really liked him coming out of Nevada, not second round like, but these are the type of backups you need. A guy you can have about 5 plays in the playbook for every week, mobile, decent throwing guy and in times like these someone that will give you a fighting chance. Charlie can be fine with a running game- but every team he faces will take away the run and dare him to throw.

 Raiders and Titans was when the defense was playing like crap. Today we lost to a Browns team that is playing everyone tough and we faced them with a 3rd string QB. Is that really lost on you and everyone else today? We turned the ball over 8 times today too, that hasn't been happening every week unless I'm watching different games, it was a fluke. And what about the 4 games winning streak before Ben went down? Now no Ben for 2 weeks and oh look, we've stunk it up. Wonder if missing Ben has anything to do with that? Hmmm, could be, maybe, perhaps.

Yeah I gotta agree mac. Except for the throwing less to Miller part. I thought Miller was his safest choice and usually Miller is good for plowing his way to a few more yards after the catch.

As was brought up by board member Mac daddy 2 weeks ago about having
a qb in the pipe line. How is that working for yinz today after witnessing our fossils
the last two weeks. I love Charlie Batch, but he can no longer get it done.
I seen enough the last 2 weeks that both have got to go. PERIOD!

Charlie threw 3 picks so he is at fault. I agree when teams get down to 3rd string QB it's difficult to win games. Even with 7 turnovers the team was good enough to stay in the game until the end. The refs blew the fumbled that would had gave the Steelers an opportunity to win. Short of a penalty I doubt they drive down the field to win the game.
