You guys have no idea what it's like living with my wife after a Steeler's loss. It's absolutely horrible for about an hour after the game. She blames the refs, the coaches, me and anyone else she can think of. She literally breathes the Steelers. I have to hope for an undefeated season every single year.

I'm not really Doom and Gloom my expectations are pretty low.

I will be surprised if we reach 10 wins and a playoff spot. Feel like that would be the high for the season.

Thinking we are more 7-8 wins.

But maybe I will be surprised.

I just really don't like our offensive line or ability to stop a running attack to be a really good football team.

On doom and gloom, I was always very positive about new seasons ever since I started following Steelers religiously in 93. There was something about knowing the D will be solid, and running game will be very good - mainly because DL and OL were usually solid (game is won in the trenches) - those made me optimistic about new seasons.

my doom and gloom started setting in around 2015/2016 and it has continued. I just feel doomish going into a season thinking we can’t run the ball or stop the run game. Not sure how to feel optimistic about those prospects.

Well the first loss will be Sunday at Bengals. How has the team improved? The O line is worse. All they did was over pay for some defensive players to appease us fans . I hope they win 12 but I think it will be epically bad

The same week 1 where we will play Joe Burrow who didn't take one single snap during any preseason game and had very limited practice due to an appendectomy surgery?

I'm not worried about that game at all.

Calling for Kimo the Bengal Killer to un-retire for just one effective play on D. Hit em right in the appendix hole Sir. :dancing:

Living in Bengal land I'm not sure I could handle another 17 seasons of defending an unfortunate injury.

Sounds like you may be in the minority about this game. Me, I'll worry about every one of them, especially the games we should win.

it was uncalled for, but common steelers history - Cower-esqe, for sure,to lose those kinds of games
correct - this is how you LOSE in the NFL. The blame is easy to spot....

Man I used to be a raging lunatic watching them. Now I generally just sit and watch once in a while freaking out but far and away how I used to watch. Guess it comes with age to just chill and try to enjoy the game and vent my frustrations or triumphs about the team here.

The Doom and Gloom crowd will always be around. There's a few in this thread.

No painkillers needed. Shutdown Mixon, Pressure Burrow and control the clock. Game over. Already got my popcorn ready.

I saw Najee Harris even lose his cool this Preseason after getting hit in the backfield every play last game. So it's hard not to complain about the worst Oline play in Steeler history.

We will get blown out week 1, but I have faith in Tomlin to bounce back so we don’t get blown out as much week 2

I don't know if the Steelers have a CB that can cover Chase. Could be another long day... but the Bengals could lay an egg like Bills did last year. Anything is possible.

I started following the Steelers over here in the UK around 1986. They were pretty bad but I still loved them.

I think that probably set the level of my expectations ever since.

IM Actually optimistic.....I believe the defense will be better... more depth on the d line...receiving Corp could be very good... good young Qb, running back and tight end... o line is definitely the problem, but maybe they can tighten up as the season goes on and become adequate....Don't believe they gotta be great...That line we went to the super bowl some years back was pretty average

There were worries about the OL last year too, Najee still managed to be productive, and this season the top two QBs have some mobility and will throw to the MOF.

Nobody was giving them a chance to beat the Bills last year in the season opener either .

Nobody is saying they're going to the Super Bowl this season, give the new GM a chance to build the roster his way.
