The injury kept him from being a 1st round pick. Glad he is a Steeler! he's a freak!

Me as well Blast and I wanted them to sign him. This looks more and more like a no go at this point with the receiver rate going through the roof.

He isn't going to take anything less then 18/20 a year which I would lean on the high side.

Always makes me hopeful reading about training camp. Nothing at all against Juju but I sure the hell don't want him to "bounce back". Sadly, I can see him and Mahomes lighting it up big time.

I guess I have a different take. JuJu had some dumb kid moments, but I felt he always gave 100 % on the field and generally represented the Steelers well off the field. He left on good terms and I really hope he has a great career.

Or Sammie Coates, Markus Wheaton, Mike Wallace......

IMO, the excitement is good and warranted. But I will withhold judgment until we actually see him on the field in a real NFL game against legit DBs.

Wallace was a big play WR for the Steelers, and he made the Pro Bowl, he was way better than Wheaton and Coates.

I hope he can put up the numbers that Wallace did, that'd be great. The others, I get it.

Pretty much a one trick guy, but You are correct.....He did, and was big for us on many occasions.

That's still more than what Coates or Wheaton did for the Steelers.

Had a pretty danm good trick that put oposing teams in a quandary. Let him beat you with speed or cover over the top and underneath, which gave other WRs opportunities. And his numbers were solid for the timeframe.

I agree with both of You....We both can be correct.
Hell I believe in the last SB...if the refs called PI in a couple of instances like they should have on the Guys covering Wallace....the game would have a different outcome.

True. But he certainly isn't the measuring stick for Pickens. If Pickens lives up to Wallace level, then most here would consider Pickens to have underachieved.

I don't blame the guy for trying to get what he feels he's worth. DJ seems like a nice kid, and he definitely works hard at his craft. But it is a business, and I don't think he's worth the risk of an $18/ $20 mil per contract. At least not at this time for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Franchise him or trade him. Even if Pickens turns out to be a run of the mill player, most drafts are loaded with talent at the position due to the proliferation of the passing game in college. I would absolutely rather have a content and determined Diontae Johnson on the roster. Just not at his asking price. He can be replaced.

Mike Wallace was legit. They couldn't resign him for what he wanted. I wouldn't say he was a disappointment. Had 2 1000+ yard seasons in 4 years, including 10 TDs one season. I'll give you the other two guys but I wouldn't put Wallace in that group.

I agree that Wallace was great with us but I don't think the steelers had a chance to sign Wallace in 2012 and 2013,since the steelers were in a cap hell at this time.12 millions per year was a lot in 2013

I have still no idea what was the true offer by the steelers for Wallace

I forgive the Steelers for not knowing how to draft cornerbacks because they dang sure know how to “pick” receivers! (See what I did there…)

He was the highlight for me both days we were at training camp. I liked what I saw from Trubisky, too, but Pickens was fun to watch.

Every team thinks they got one of these.

    I'll hold out hope.

    Way. Too. Early.

Remember that George is coming back from an ACL Injury. To me, he finally has those subtle yet explosive movements back. That said, his speed in his Freshman Year was what made him skyrocket so many boards and would have continued yet again in his Junior Year had he not wrecked that knee at the tail end of his Sophomore one.

Much of those intangible traits that got him selected are apparent for certain; hand eye cooridnation and body control being his two biggest benefits. How quickly though can he synchronize them all together while attempting to get back to 100% is but another topic all together.

I was excited when the team had the chance to nab him for even I thought he was as good as gone in the late first; early second being my floor for him. Still though, have to see the results myself.

I like Pickens but I'm going to hold off on crowning him already.
I remember not long ago people were calling Claypool Megatron, and Air Canada.

There are always "Training Camp Superstars"

But I do like Pickens, and I am glad the Steelers got him.
I'd like to see him continue his success into the preseason and right into the regular season.

My bigger concern is the QB play which has been less than stellar, even for training camp.
