You are saying he was done in 2018 based on his 2021 numbers.

Yeah, that makes absolutely no sense.

I would only concede he should probably have been let go after the Browns playoff loss, BUT his whole career and what he accomplished bought him the right to play last year. You don't just toss a HOF QB, and THE BEST QB IN FRANCHISE HISTORY (yes the stats bear that out), to the curb like that.

Damn, even Terry got to come back and play until his body couldn't do it anymore.

Couldn’t be any less of a story. He doesn’t play on the team anymore, who cares. Except for saying he can still play, he didn’t say anything inaccurate or inappropriate.

Yeah, he was terrible. Two rings and all. Not to mention his passing helped make your boys' reputation. But why bring facts into this?

Not that I want to make this a thing Blast but do you remember when DWill was taken to task the week Manning retired because he told the truth about how bad Peyton was that final season while everyone was singing his praises. I said at the time that DWill was spot on in his comments about Manning and why shouldn't he say that the week the guy retired, his last season was a joke where the defense of the Broncos won him a ring. You said it was just not called for the week he retired and bad timing. So here we have Ben basically speaking the truth from his perspective and the 1st week of camp when he really shouldnt be. How is this different from then?

Two things can be true. You can be a great player and a bad leader. He also was on a team when he won those sbs that was full of guys who were leaders. When it was his turn to lead the team could never get over the hump.

I don’t remember that at all, how do you :lolol:

I agree with my position at that time, though. I don’t see how the two situations are the same. Did Ben single anyone out specifically? I didn’t see that, what I read was him basically saying todays game is more about “me” then team.

Peyton had a historic career and future HOF at the time and just retired. How is speaking the first week of training camp equate dumping on Peyton right after retiring? Also, wasnt DWill still on the team then? Bens not on the team anymore, another difference. DWill certainly had the right to say it, his timing sucked.

I just think Ben is the ***** eating crackers to a lot of you guys, anytime he says something it sets people off.

YAWN. The opinion piece and this entire thread is a pathetic attempt to smear arguably the best QB this franchise has ever had. As soon as the author of this drivel mentioned not wearing a helmet riding a motorcycle over 15 years ago, the intent was blatantly obvious. I'm not wasting any more time or brain power reading 4 pages of BS in this thread.

Agree 1000%...I just think it's RICH that some Steelers fans (and the media) blame Ben for damn near everything, and yet conveniently give Mike Dumblin a free pardon year after year after year. All the talent, all the front office support, all the Pro Bowlers and All-Pro's, a 19 mil QB, a 16 mil WR, a 12 mil RB, #43, etc... and yet only 1 Championship. It's like he can do no wrong, and he's NEVER held accountable for a damn thing in this organization, nor held accountable for his failures. It's ALWAYS someone else's fault, but never Dumblin. If you want a good coach who can tread water, Dumblin is your man. If you want a great coach, time to fire Dumblin and hire someone who can get this organization back on the rails...

Its not like be posted it in Twitter when no one asked him

From the first week of camp it looks like Ben on his couch is still the best QB of the guys in camp

Well, it isn't that simple, is it? He was on a team with an aging defense and a defensive coordinator that the game was passing by. They replaced him with a disciple that didn't change much. How else do you explain allowing 38 points to Jax in the 2017 playoffs? Yes, Ben made mistakes, but the defense let them down far too much in my opinion because it just wasn't very good. It's a team game. Blaming a lack of leadership by their QB for their putrid playoff record the last 12 years is just a way for you to absolve Brown of his stupid, idiotic behavior.

Brown left and won a sb. This wasn't even about him. Ben was called a bad leader by his teammates before ab ever played a down in the nfl.

If you look at ben in the playoffs, he's never been that great in the postseason. His numbers are below average. So don't act like it was all the defense for why he couldn't do anything.

LOL, AB was only a luxury for the bucs....The moment AB became very important for the bucs (after Chris Godwin's injury last year) he imploded like crazy once again

When a team had to rely to AB, it's a disaster waiting to happen....The bucs won 2 playoffs game without AB btw in 2020, very likely the bucs would have won the super bowl without him
