i want to say John Candy had a scene ,but it could have been some one else where they ate gobs and gobs of seafood with cocktail sauce and it was all over their face.

 

And the best cocktail sauce is also Heinz

Particularly the Zesty which I still add more horseradish to

I eat a lot of stuff from street vendors when I’m in Mexico

People are afraid it will make them sick

I agree with this. For years, I ate from street vendors in the Caribbean and South America and never had a problem. The food is almost always fresh, because they buy it, prepare it and sell it as fast as possible. They know they can’t store it, so they don’t overbuy.


Though I would pass on the hard boiled quail eggs and the raw oysters for sale on the beaches in Brazil

 

The Laos people have a dish call (don't know the correct spelling) Thom Kem...that has quail eggs in it, and is freaking delicious It's like an almost caramelized dish.
It's very very good.

 

I was in lapaz Mexico and a street vendor had Mayo sitting open in the sun I skipped that

It's called elote and it's the only way I'll even eat corn. On the cob? Nah. Cut it off and mix it up with something good.

Agree. I use to get this egg with some purple stuff stuffed in some sort of taco every morning for 20 peso's which was about a dollar at the time. Now that orange looking shrimp on a stick they sold on the beach is another story.

 

Seeing how this thread has turned into food I'll give my thoughts.

First time I order fries (chips) in Europe they were served with vinegar. When I inquired about ketchup they didn't understand.

 

always made my own cocktail sauce with ketchup, a little lemon juice and fresh ground horseradish. this way i can adjust the taste. i don't care for the store bought stuff after that.
