It wasn’t my first game. But I still have a ticket stub for OJ Simpson first game. The Bills played the World Champion NY Jets in the ‘69 AFL season opener. Sat in the end zone, ticket price $4.50

Attended several games involving other teams before I finally got a chance to see the steelers live. Mainly due to my location at the time being closer to places like indy, st. Louis and Chicago. They were mainly drunken excursions just to get away and have fun. First steeler game came in 2004 when Ben came on the scene. Watched the steelers beat the bengals in Cincinnati in a semi tight game. Main memories was the wheels on the bus rolling all game, it ending in a safety and knowing for the first time in my steeler viewing we had a franchise qb. Was a great game and fun year to watch even though the steelers got stopped short of the superbowl.

We can claim the Saul brothers and Terry Hanratty in Butler but Barbara Feldon who played agent 99 was from Bethel Park. We did have Michele McDonald who was Miss USA in 1971. She went to Knoch HS in the southern part of Butler County. Of course Butler's biggest claim to fame was that the Jeep was first built here in 1940 by the American Bantam Car Company.

i thought the jeep was originally willy's. you are correct though the first one was hand built there. after that willy's kyseier frazier/willy's, ford and the engineer from the stutz motor co. were involved. pretty good and long story about the jeep.

They have the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival near Portersville every year with a few thousand people bringing their Jeeps for the festival.

Guess they were yanking my chain...
I didn't know that about the Jeep. I never owned one till a year ago, now I love the damn thing.
I drive it all over the beaches and anything else I find to run over.

In an interview after the kick the door down loss Bum said

Those people in Pittsburgh are so nice if we had just knocked they might have opened the door

I had to like the guy

    I had a 1959 Willys CJ5

    I loved it

4 cylinder flathead with a 688 rear end

Top speed was 42mph but I could drive up a telephone pole

1990 December 23 Steelers vs Cleveland. Froze my butt off but they won 35-0. I thought Bubby Brister was going to be a hall of fame QB for years to come after that game. LOL

Super-fuzzy on details…home game at Three Rivers around 1970-1971. I was not even 10, my dad got tickets for free from a coworker. Sat about as Peanut Heaven as you could get. Steelers got thumped, IIRC.

    And I was hooked.

Steelers v. Oilers at Three Rivers. I was about 12--my family drove all the way from Delaware, which was big for us because we were struggling financially. Steelers won 35-0 if I recall correctly.

Way later....I've had the good fortune to attend some good games at Heinz Field---the one where Bettis ran over Urlacher in the snow and the one where Polamalu made the diving interception against the Chargers (that happened practically right in front of me, thanks to some killer seats from a rando scalper in the parking lot). Also sat through a Steelers-Bengals night game in the pouring rain. OchoCinco was there and it was freezing and horrible.

First game was Broncos vs Eagles in Philly in 1980.

Been to Heinz field several times. They only time they lost when I was there was when Ben did the fake spike and hit AB for a TD. Problem was, they left too much time on the clock and gave up the win with 45 seconds to go.

Thanks 2 Our so called awesome Defense that year.
Elliot beat them every way possible that day.
People think our Run D just magically got bad last year....actually they haven't been that good in awhile .....if You look at games when teams stay close enough in the score 2 stay with it the whole game....We've been run on for years. Last year was just worse.

I'm a west coast Steeler fan. Don't get many chances to see them. The first time I did was the worst day ever!!! Tempe, AZ 1/28/1996.
