Best reply I’ve seen on the interweb yet was “Acrisure sounds like a new yeast infection cream… I hate it”

I'm sorry but I absolutely can't stand your b.s. on this topic. If your coach isn't meeting the goals and expectations you are setting for him then you make the change to get someone who will regardless of the color if his skin. It has zero to do with a rule put in place to allow minority candidates an opportunity to seriously interview for a head coaching position if available. Just because it's called the Rooney rule doesn't mean that it prevents the Rooney’s can't making a coaching change because Tomlin is black and the Rooney's had pushed for a rule that evens the field no matter who you are.

While you are entitled to your opinion on Tomlin being a fraud and comparing Art Rooney II to the character of Fredo in the godfather because he seemed to not fit the family business like Mike and Sonny its your opinion and doesn't really mesh with the situation or show an understanding of Fredo as he was written. If Mike Tomlin were failing the goals set by Rooney I'd expect that he makes a change. Since he hasn't I guess he is still going to be the coach going forward.

You're entitled to your opinion obviously, As am I...I watch every game, very closely, and I think Tomlin stinks...

Continually playing down to opponents, embarrassing blowouts at Home in the playoffs...4 out of 16 years WITHOUT a playoff win ( with a HOF QB ) his entire tenure ..Worst in the League at challenges, horrible at clock management, was brought in as a Defensive Coach...A Defensive Coach who specialized in the defensive backfield...

And the thing he supposedly specialized in, has been the weak link since he started! He hasn't developed any imo...Colbert had to bring Haden, Nelson, and Minkah from the outside to have any semblance of a defensive backfield...

Do you really think he is a good Coach? Based on what?

Just heard this on the Herd today. Last playoff loss at Heinz field was to the Baker Mayfield lead Browns. Dude that puke is eternal

The Post Gazette had an article that it may reach 20 million a year. Hate it..but cash is king.

Ben said it will always be Heinz Field to him

    No :poopy:

He couldn’t learn the playbook he sure can’t learn to pronounce Acrisure

    However it’s pronounced

“Pittsburgh Football Field” at the three rivers

This is you tilting at windmills. I didn't say anything about Tomlin other than your opinion that he is a fraud and won't ever get fired by a Rooney because of the Rooney rule. We had a similar discussion on the board about BA and how do you fire an OC that led you to a SB. The same way you do anyone else, you set goals and standards and if the employee fails to meet them, then you make a change.

I have never been a Tomlin guy so I'm not going to defend him to you. I was still to young to understand the game at the end of Noll’s tenure and Coach Cowher was everything I liked in a Coach. So when a classmate of my fks who has known me all my life picked me up at the airport in Pittsburgh in August of 2006 and drove me to my grandparents house said he thought Cowher was a bad coach I got mad. I listened to his reasons and set aside the fan me and looked at it and found a lot of the things he was saying were true. Bill Cowher was not good a coaching a project player up. He was good at identifying a plug and play player and then getting that player to perform at his best. I'm still 100% a Cowher guy but I can speak critically about his coaching. I think he didn't know what to do with Kordell Stewart and in trying to plug him into Cowher ball he wrecked a gifted player.

My take on Tomlin has never changed. He is like Dungy to a fault and instead of breaking his players to his will and forging his own destiny as a coach he is content to guide his players. I have screamed to high heaven for him to get an offensive identity or break from Ben's team and keep the QB spot warm for Ben when he was injured but he never did. If you are seeking change this might be the season that gives you ammunition. No Ben to keep a spot warm, no DL or Butler to run the 3-4 base defense. It is all Tomlin and guys he brought in. There is no hiding from it.

I guess my suggested nickname of AggroSure Stadium is drawing little enthusiasm. I originally wanted to nickname it the Ketchup Bowl and that didn’t catch on either.

It will however make an excellent drinking game this season. Every time the broadcast team refers to it as Heinz Field you take a drink. If they say the big ketchup bottle you do a shot and if someone makes the giant mistake of calling it the Confluence you shotgun the whole beer.

I agree with a lot You said, but the wrecked a gifted player part.....You are either good , or not....this whole wreck a player is for people that like a player, and they don't turn out the way they thought. He had chances elsewhere....if You throw a simple out into the ground 8 out of 10 times....that's not a coaching fault. He had one good throw in Him ....deep sidelines....that's it.....I remember them asking why We never ran certain routes with Him playing Qb, and the OC at the time said if We win the SB I will tell You...guess what ???
    He never told us.
I mean that will be like every Pickett fan( if He doesn't work) saying.....Well Tomlin ruined Him:shrug:

Acrisure is such a bad name that I actually would have preferred Pornhub Park. Sure the name is classless but the halftime shows would have been unforgettable.

When I say he wrecked Stewart, I'm not laying the all Kordell's problems at Cowher's feet. Rather that he didn't find ways to allow Stewart to play the way he could. Somewhere along the way whether it was a member of the staff or a beat writer got in his head, Kordell that is, and convinced him that to be an elite QB he needed to work from the pocket and not use his athletic ability and talent to be a mismatch for opposing defenses. Cowher could have said and maybe he did, I don't know, he could have said hey Kordell play the game the way you know how, block out those voices. In the end Kordell couldn't ignore those opinions, tried to be a pocket passer and just failed at it. So Cowher's plug and play style wasn't the best option for a guy that was more Warren Moon/Randall Cunningham type of run and shoot QB and not a stand in there and take the hit to deliver a strike QB.
