I don't know the exact year..had to be his 2 or 3 year in league. Don't know if it was a rare sat game..there were a few back then, or how he was able to maje it to Titusville first day of buck season. But he did. Big money in that town back then, many hunting camps.

Anyway a couple of teachers were talking about the Sunday night before opening day. Jack Lambert showed up, might have known one of the teachers from college. Anyway he at that time partied like he played..fast and hard. Next morning all the guys were groggy, Jack was fully ready and said let's go boys, the only day I got. The legend..Jack Lambert.

i have told this story before on here. i remember his last game. the championship game at the orange bowl in miami against a young qb named dan marino. mark malone was ours. jack had turf toe and was not playing but dressed. he was pacing back and forth like a caged animal. my seats were 7 rows off the field in back of the steelers bench. he was right down in front of me. we had the lead at one point in that game. i remember the 4th qtr. came and i was yelling at him to get in the game jack, don't go out like this. he starred right at me and it was scary for a moment. he grabbed his helmet and ran into that game. i know he was hurting but that look on his face was priceless. i got to witness that as my last memory of him playing and will never forget that. always been my favorite steeler and will always be. :smiley1::cool:

My favorite Steeler of all time. My daughter's chipped in and got me a 1976 Legacy Collection Jack Lambert jersey for Father's day last month. I was thrilled to get it because it is something that I will wear with pride forever.

Not sure what game it was, but I saw Jack make 9 straight tackles in a row. Best middle linebacker in the game.

The only Steelers jersey I own. Years ago my son purchased me a game jersey of Mr. Lambert. I have it to this day. I wear it once a year on Christmas day.

Mr Lambert likes his privacy and doesn’t really like people walking up to his front door

A friend worked for the water company and sent the new kid to Jack’s front door to read the meter

Jack answered told the kid to come in and Jack offered him a beer

The kid said it was only 10 am

Jack growled I don’t care what time it is drink a beer with me

    So he did

When he came back out to the truck my buddy was just laughing he knew who’s house it was he’d been there before

Jim Kelly was worshipped as deity in his hometown of East Brady. Lambert walked into a bar in East Brady around 1985 when Kelly was in the USFL. The bar had a large poster of Kelly in his Houston Gamblers uniform on the wall and Lambert walked over and tore it down. He then growled to the bar residents that when Kelly makes it in the NFL then you can put his poster up. Everyone just sat there quietly drinking their beer and didn't say a word to him. I've heard many people from that area repeat the story so maybe it is true and not just a legend.

Funny, he is pretty much my age but in my mind the sport hero's of my youth should all be like 90 now.

Who would strike more fear in your heart if you were caught making out with their young daughter; Jack lambert or Jack Bauer?

He and my dad grew up together in Pittsburgh. Started lifting weights as teens, back when skinny little Bruno got bullied because of his accent. My sister has a pic of those two beasts somewhere in all the family photos.

I saw a special on Bruno after he passed

Ge traveled a lot world wide promoting the sport back when it was a sport

Three times he missed a flight……

    …….that crashed

Side note: I have a large friend who got off flight 427 heading to Pittsburgh because they had a first class seat on the next flight

    His coworkers stayed on

    427 crashed

He didn’t know and walked in the front door of his house

His wife had already assumed he was dead
