This is what we need. A solid DT/DE to add to the rotation. He isn’t the pedigree of Derron Payne but I’ll take him. If he is healthy he will help tremendously to fill the void of losing Tuitt. He would be third best Defensive lineman on the team instantly. If Leal and Loudermilk develop throughout the year and Wormley uses his added weight to support the run defense, it makes me feel whole lot better going into the season.
Starting Rotation of Heyward, Alualu and Ogunjobi doesn’t sound bad considering the alternatives. Still a lot of what if’s on defense but if they can all play to their potential and Canada turns out to be legit on offense with Trubisky we may have a chance to be solid this year. I just hope they don’t view Ogunjobi as a long term answer on the Defensive line. Perhaps this will buy us a few years to develop the Leal and Loudermilk and we get make a splash in the draft or free agency next year on the Defensive line.

He played at Charlotte. Didn't Highsmith play there?

He did play at Charlotte. I think he was lightly recruited out of high school because he only played three years of football. It will all come down to the health of his foot. I just hope they don’t break the bank for him. The good thing is they are actively looking for defensive lineman. If it does not work out for him there are other DT’s still available. My actually preference in order would be:

    1. Derron Payne (but we would have to trade for him and he would be the most expensive)
    2. Nadomokung Suh (I botched the spelling)
    3. Ogunjobi

    I'm surprised Payne is mentioned.
I worked with him in Washington, he doesn't get much love there.
Payne is tough against double teams no doubt.
He is not at the Allen level though, and therefore Washington did pick up the option but next year is a questionmark.
I think Washington will hold on to him this year and let him work free agency.
They did draft a player like him (plays more over center) and maybe his replacement.
I think a change of atmosphere would be good for him and Pittsburgh would be a good fit.. but I think it will be 2023 at the soonest. (never say never though)

Suh is still a monster on the line.
He's a 1-year deal and I think he is more interested in the Bonafide playoff contenders.

Ogunjobi is not a bad addition of they decide to go that way.

Looks like he had already agreed to a deal with the Bears for 3 years/40 mil but it fell through because he failed the physical.

The failed physical was 3 months ago

A lot of time to heal

But an injured player is always concerning

He’ll probably start the season on the PUP, Insurance policy against injury, lost two starters last year early on.

Great signing if healthy. Now I am excited about the defense. Looking at his highlights he has a little Arron Donald vibe to him.

Keep 7 DL, and make Leal inactive early on.

It will also allow more sub package football if they try more run stopping formations.

I invite any player that will help the cause.

Issue is the injury. Will he be ready for camp?

He lost a boat load of dough failing the Bears physical. After they signed him!

And what does this say about development?

I think they feel that Leal is not ready yet so bring in a vet to school.

Hope that he can stay healthy, get healthy.

What? Is he currently injured; so he will not be available when training camp starts?

He was injured, had surgery, signed a FA deal earlier this year but failed the physical ……. It’s been a few weeks so he probably is “more” healed but who really knows where’s he at right now.

I doubt they signed a player to a 1 year contract that failed a physical.

Hope he gets healthy if he isn't already. They have the makings of a pretty good defensive line if it all falls into place. The run defense last year was an embarrassment.
