Except the Steelers had no interest in bringing Conner back, why would he stay in Pittsburgh to be Najee's backup?

Now you're getting to the core of the problem.

He has a 3 year contract with Arizona

They can’t have an interest in bringing him back

And Arizona way over paid him

They were ready to move on from an injury prone player, they got an upgrade in Najee, you seem to have a problem with that.

    18 Touchdowns will do that.

Because he is dirt cheap, knows the offense, and has shown he can have the occasional 100 yard game/perform in short yardage if the starter is out for a brief time. Oh, and he is dirt cheap, I can not emphasize that enough.

It is all of this, and he is useful on special teams.

Actually they did not. He signed a prove it deal for 1.75 million fir the 21 season. His new deal was signed last March. I disagree they overpaid..maybe a couple of million, but 13.5 million guaranteed over 2 years with that production is not bad. The last year he can be cut with no cap hit. He fits that O well.

I got an alert on my phone from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review that had the headline "James Conner returning to Pittsburgh". I hurried up and clicked on it to see the details of the deal only to read an article about how he flew in to Pittsburgh the other day to visit his cancer nurse and present her with an award. Talk about click bait.
