Just wondering why they went after Plaxico and Hines? I wonder if they asked him and he said no he was done for good.

I was just thinking the team would be better with the guy who was there only a year ago.

Hines was benched last year because he was just about done. why would they bring him back a year slower, a year older and out of football shape?

Burress was in great shape from everything i have heard and he had a pretty good year with the Jets last season. 8 catches for 8 td's. not a bad ratio.

plus they already have 3 other wr's like Hines. meaning small. unless Hines grew 6" its obvious why they would choose Burress over him.

Do you guys even watch the games Hines can't get any separation from the defense that's why he got benched.

With a new offense, there is little benefit to bringing in a guy just because he was there last season.

I think Hines retired at the right time, he was starting to get lit up, guys were really teeing off on him. Hines is one of my all time favorites but Plax will help more then he would have and I don't have to watch a favorite of mine get carted off the field.

 Burress actually had something like 45 catches for the Jets last year.

i was looking under scoring only. my bad. your right he had 45 catches for 600 plus yards and 8 td's. still not bad.

    Exhibit B, Plaxico Burress:

No further questions your honor. :lolol:

I was just listening to Tunch and Wolf and Hines was on the show this morning. Wolf actually asked him about coming back, and Hines said (rough transcription):

'I closed that chapter in my life.'

'My mind is so far gone about coming back I'm so into broadcasting and doing other things...The Walking Dead, the Iron Man competition, Food network Food Challenge...so many projects I'm so far fetched from football - love talking about football, but as far as going out there and preparing to get ready to play and put out the product I used to for so many years, I'm not even ready to play or thinking about coming back.'

If you want to listen he's on around the 10 minute mark.

I am really happy to have Plax back. I am not sure how/where he will fill in when Brown and Cotch are both back, but he provides a step up as red zone threat at the WR position - even over our other guys when they are healthy. I feel we have 3 or 4 better all-around WRs than Plax on our roster, but you cant teach a 5'10" guy to be 6'6", 235 when the field shrinks.

my only downer about plax is the way he gives up on plays. i've seen him do it here and i've seen him do it everywhere else he's played too. if the other team picks off a pass he just quits, throws a little tantrum and pays no attention to the guy running the pick back. one more thing, is he going to play ST's?

    Sounds like wallace lol

Maybe Plax can teach Wallace on how to become more aggressive for the jump balls?

and Jerry Rice is so much better than Hines!! whats your point?

i believe the point of this thread was basically implying why not bring in Hines instead of Plax.

Plax is in shape and is tall. Hines is not in football shape and last time i checked he wasnt tall.
