Yahoo had an article about when each team last finished last in their division. Green Bay Packers- 2005. New England Patriots- 2000.
    Pittsburgh Steelers- 1988.

    No other teams before 2010.

Just thought those doomsayers on here would have something to say about it.

The media is jocking on the clowns again this year. Most have us dead last.
We'll definitely be better than the clowns. You can't tell me that our offense won't be a tad bit better without Big Ben. He didn't have it the last couple years. We'll probably have a few more turnovers this year, but will definitely put up more points to help out that defense.

    That is kind of amazing.

I'm convinced the Yahoo sports writer is a Steeler fan.

I think its exciting as hell that the Steelers are young and new. I mean it had to happen sooner or later.
Not the same old stale team that hasn't won a playoff game since whenever.

Just as a reference, in 1988 Bubby Brister was the QB. If you remember those dark days, you're probably over 40. An entire generation of Steeler fans have never seen the team so bad they finished last in their division.

Having both the Clowns and Bungles in the division, it was really hard to finish last pre 2020.

Sadly I go back to to the generation that saw them finish last 4-5 years in the sixties.

Once Ben came I had to put up with the haters telling me we win a lot because we always have an easy division.

If talked got around to Brady and the Pats I quickly pointed out who they got to play 6 times a year. And the past 20 years the Ravens much tougher foe then the Bills were for Pats.

also the Val Kilmer hit on Carson. blah.
The east was the weakest division for so long the Pats had an ez ride. The north still had the occasional surprise from the 2 teams in oHIo

This argument would carry more water if the Brady Pats record vs those Wimpy AFCE was waaay better than the record vs the rest of the league. But it’s not. They won about 75% of their games against those AFCE cream puffs, and won about 75% of their games vs everybody else, including the Defenders-of-the-Faith, Your Pixburgh Stillers.

Thats the sad part, their division games were like a tune-up for the Playoffs. My Stillers, not so much.

Wrong interpretation, the Pats beat everyone, like a drum. Strong, weak, in between. They just won.

Pretty impressive stat. It has helped to have good ownership in a division that largely hasn't excluding the Ravens.

Why??? the Bengals have been 2 the playoffs 8 different times in the last 16 years , and the Ravens 10 times in the same amount of times. Also our division leads the league in the amount of times 3 teams have made the playoffs at the same time. So I would say this has been a very competitive division.

The Bengals, other than a few years in the mid 00s and mid 10s haven't been very good. And the Browns, aside from a year or two, have been historically bad since their reincarnation. With those two, chances are good for any random year that you're going to have a really bad team in your division, making it hard to finish last.

    Since 2002....
If you sort by conference standings, the Bengals or (mostly) the Browns have finished either 15th or 16th in 11 of the 19 seasons. So during those years, in order to finish in last place in the division, you would also have to be one of the worst teams in the conference as well.

Of those 11 times, Cleveland took that dishonor 8 of them.

Go all the way back to 1970, and that 1988 finish is still the only last place. That's 52 seasons, one last place. And for most of the 70s, 80s and 90s, they played in a 4 team division (as did the NFCW). The other 4 divisions had 5 teams.

Significance of this stat? Bragging rights maybe. Past performance is no indication.... However, I expect the streak to continue in 2022 until proven otherwise!

Jackson wants a new deal. PLEASE PLEASE pay him the rumored 250 Mill :clapping:Lack of receivers could hurt.

The clowns who knows. They always seem to shat the bed. Will Watson start the season?

Bungles are on the upswing and should be better in 2022 barring injuries unfortunately.

Who knows where we will end up. That's why they play the games. I have a better feeling about this team then last season.

If the Browns lose Watson to suspension for 8 games or more, they could finish last in the division.

If deshaun is suspended which looks inevitable, steelers may be better than Cleveland.

Thing is though they didn't catch teams all the time when theyw ere good. The rest of the nfl varied alot in terms of when they wee good. Pats just luckily caught teams the year they sucked.
