He needs to add some weight to deal with the 300 some pound O Lineman especially if he is taking over for Tuitt.

The reality is they drafted him because the Tuitt situation I feel is over.

Weight isn't the issue...... It's strength.... Aaron Donald is pretty much the same size and no one can block him at all

According to the article, he's already up to 298. So, yeah, if you thought he was too small he's now into Tuitt/Heyword size.

his trainer is casey hampton. he's on that proven diet of krispy kreme doughnuts and twinkies, with an occasional visit to golden corral until asked to leave the buffet. shouldn't take long to get into playing shape with this regiment. :smiley1::cool:

The dead cap for this season is 9,680.75 mill. I do believe that it can be spread out if they do release him. Remember Woodley was being paid for a few years after being released. He was owed 19.76 mill.

Can't just have him sit and hold the Steelers hostage. I would like to have him back when healthy he is a top DE in the league but the lingering knee injury is a major concern.

when healthy. he sat out as well for a year. is he still a top DE? he has not been healthy for 1 full season dating back to his college days. if you look at chris wormley's stats last year, he had pretty close as good of season as tuitt had in his best year. production is production and for the price difference if wormley has another year like his last he will be outplaying tuitt actually. for the money that's a huge plus. this will be interesting to watch.

Wormley is not strong against the run. He makes the occasional big play in the backfield, but having to replace Tuitt with him is one reason the run defense was so weak last season.

Tuitt is a dominant run defender when he is healthy. Wormley is not. The run defense was a disaster for many reasons. Of course, losing their nose tackle and getting terrible play from their inside linebackers was part of the problem, too, but Wormley was also part of the problem.

why doesn't tuitt's stats show that dominance? wormley had a very solid season last year. you can downplay it but the numbers are pretty close to tuitts best season.

One of us understands that there is more to evaluating a defensive lineman than just sacks and tackles. Then there is you.

Even if you do want to go by statistics. Wormely has 10.5 sacks in five NFL seasons, with a career-high of seven in 2021. Tuitt had 11 sacks in one season in 2020. Wormley had 10 quarterback hits in 2021 and he has 22 in his five-year career. Tuitt had 25 quarterback hits in the 2020 season alone. Did you just forget how good Tuitt can be when he is healthy? I get being frustrated by the guy. I'm frustrated with him, but Wormley isn't close to a healthy Tuitt.

Also, this idea that Wormley has made some great improvement is misguided. He got more playing time because the guy ahead of him was injured. That is why the numbers improved.

tuitt was also on the field for a lot more snaps in his best seasons, which were not that much better stat wise then wormley had last year.

What ever they have paid Tuitt through out his career, the Steelers have over paid.when you miss as much time as this player has missed he should be paying the Steelers back.

True. He is not that solid a run defender as Tuitt. But like said the loss of Alualu and both underperforming ILBers and SS were a major contributing factor to the swiss cheese run defense. We still have one of the underperforming ILBers and they resigned Edmonds which no one wanted.

Tuitt has been off injured and still has the knee issue so says limited information we all have. He also hasn't played in over a year. I would think he would be at ALL the OTAs. June 14th starts the mandatory mini camp for 3 days. He doesn't show then fold up the show thinking he is coming back.

It will be a rotation i'm sure with Wormley, Loudermilk and Leal. Fight it out in camp to see who will start.

The first link really doesn't support the idea that Wormley got better, only that he compiled more statistics because he played more.

I've seen those other comments before. Some misinterpreted it as Wormley being a starter over Tuitt if the latter returned. It is not. It is Colbert speaking highly of a player on his roster. When was the last time he didn't speak highly of one of his team's players?

Of course, Tuitt might be done. If he is healthy and mentally ready, we are one year removed from his best season as a pro, one that was a hell of a lot better than anything Wormley can do.
