Yellow all, Need to get a few things of my chest. Only you guys would understand my frustration.
    1) did you see the 49er's backup QB last night? I would describe him as Young, athletic and hungry. What do we have as our backups, old. injury prone and full belly's. Lets be realistic here. We have two old/older QB's whose salary pretty much isn't going to change whether they stand on the sidelines holding a clip board or whether the come in for 3 or 4 games and have a 140 QB rating. AS with most things in life its all about money. When your young and hungry, deep down inside you want that starter to falter or get hurt so you get your shot. (remember, I'm being realistic). When your old and have a full belly, you don't want nothing to happen to that starter, better yet if the starter is a "franchise" qb. The old backup is content to carry his clipboard, look like he cares, avoids getting the crap beat out of him and collecting those pay checks for doing nothing. Colbert or whoever really screwed up in assessing our backup situation.
    2) The last 3 or 4 games before the KC game, Ben finally looked like he was going to be an consistent elite QB. However, his play in the KC game up until he got hurt stunk. I'm like WTF, going backwords again. A part of me says that he got hurt
because he didn't throw the ball away and ran around to much. But this is what makes Ben, Ben right? But as we see he is not doing us any good on the sidelines.
    3) Our defense is playing better than I could ever hope for this season. I've said on past threads that the Steelers will only go as far as how well Big Ben plays. He is not playing so we are screwed.
    4) Disappointed in Tomlin. Mediocre coach who fell into a great coaching job.
    5) So what is going to happen? Tomlin will rush Ben back into play at 50% (like last year), and we will still lose and Ben will get hurt more. We are screwed. Don't be surprised if the Browns whip our ass (like in 2009).
Just my cents. Thanks for listening:smiley1:

While I am not as negative as you, I was not happy with Lefty as the backup. As much as I despise Hairball in SF, he seems to really be able to get his QBs to perform. I was really surprised that Kapernik (sp?) played so well.

I recall screaming for Ben to run forward on the play he got hurt on, there was a lane there - I want to get a few yard (maybe the 1st down) and live for the next play.

I can't understand how Tomlin could not see Leftwich was injured (not hurt) and could not throw without wincing in pain. You can't fake those winces, it was obvious it was real pain, not any drama or such. I was angry with Ben playing in SF last year too when he was obviously too injured.

I agree with most of what you said especially the disappointed with Tomlin for not seeing that Byron was hurting pretty badly. That alone cost us the game. Batch would have faired much better IMO. Leftwich was skipping the ball short and then holding his ribs and wincing obviously in pain. It is up to the coach to see that and protect his player from further injury. It is up to the coach to look at the bigger picture of giving the team the best chance of winning. Never been a huge Tomlin fan and this just solidifies my opinion just a little bit more. He's probably a great players coach but decision making is not his strong suit.

I watched Kaepernick play his college ball and light up the scoreboard at Nevada, he is big, 6-4 230, fast, a good runner, good passer with a big arm, the scouts missed out on him as a first rounder just because he didnt play for a big school, but he has all the tools to be a star in the NFL. Harbaugh was a long time QB in the NFL and saw all of Kaepernicks tangibles and nabbed him in the second round, I consider that one of the steals in the last draft and harbaugh can certainly coach him up to be a top QB in this league, Smith might have a hard time getting his starting job back, and if he does he could be on a short lease..Now, we need to take this set back at quarterback we presently have to motivate us to draft a QB higher than a 5th rounder in this next draft, but, we dont seem to learn from our unpreparedness, so only time will tell....

If we draft a qb in the earlier rounds next year JUST to be a backup you will be able to knock me over with a feather. As far as Tomin leaving Lefty in the game it was infuriating to watch. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Lefty was OBVIOUSLY hurt. I watched Tomlin's post game presser and he said he was not even "close" to putting Charlie in! Then he said that Lefty had took some hits but "that's football". So apparently in the mind of Mike Tomlin to have your ribs fractured is just par for the course. I guess we need some more guys to have their ribs cracked so we can be a real "football" team. Good grief dude. I'm not a Tomlin hater or anything but he really needs to get his head out of platitude land and live in reality.

I was wondering if they knew lefty was hurt but didn't want to risk getting batch hurt as well. So they let him play and saved batch for cleveland. Either way, this season is over, they won't catch the ravens for the division, and I don't see them getting a wild card.
