I have watched film on him and I don't see a big arm. Now I could be wrong but I'm interested in what the rest of you think of his arm strength.

No. That's the major knock on him. He has middling to below average arm strength for the NFL. He may throw a lot of picks in our horizontal passing defense solely because quick outs won't have enough juice on them.

Yes. He can make all the throws. Is his arm strength elite? Absolutely not. However, he can make all the throws. He’s accurate and he’s got great anticipation. A couple of the things we’ve been lacking the last few seasons. Playing quarterback is far more than just having a big arm. It’s probably fourth or fifth on the list of things that make a great qb.

oh bull****. You can’t find a legitimate person out there that calls his arm strength below average.

He can make every NFL throw. That’s not an issue for him.

Yeah, arm strength wasn't in question. He isn't elite, you don't have to be.
He threw 20/30 yards outs well.
His real strength is seeing the windows. He doesn't throw receivers into trouble and hits them often in maximum gain areas.

the two biggest knocks on him that I’ve seen are his hand size and only having one year of elite production. The hand size thing is laughable to me. They said the same thing about burrow and Vick. The production I get it. I would feel much better about the pick if he had put up similar numbers for 2-3 seasons. However, had he done so he probably would have gone top 5. The one thing that gives me hope about his limited production is the Steelers watching him so closely for the last 5 years. They know full well what they’re getting.

No analysis I've seen has knocked his arm. It may not be elite but it's good enough to make any NFL throw.

Hand size is the big knock on him, as is holding the ball too long. But those shouldn't be huge hurdles.

Two of the most successful qb's had average arm strengths. Brady and Montana. Reading the defense, being accurate and good anticipation are talents that are more valuable than having elite arm strength imo. However, you need at least an average arm strength (by nfl standards) in the NFL to be successful. Pickett has that.

So far I haven't seen anything that says He doesn't have a good enough arm 2 make all the throws. Does He have a cannon...No...at least I don't see it, but a lot of Great Qbs haven't had cannons....only thing I've seen every Great Qb have is... great processing ability .

I also did not see a single big time throw in his 15 min highlights. So, no he does not have the arm. It's all placement, rollouts, and weak sauce.

He cant throw and he sucks. Thats why the team who never drafts well but somehow never has a losing season drafted him.

Ravens and Jets drafted all the names the average person recognizes and will likely take turns winning Superbowls for the next 10 years.

I’m a Pitt fan and watch most of the games each year. Pickett was fantastic last year but very middle of the road before that. His arm strength although not excellent isn’t his biggest problem. His turnovers and holding onto the ball too long will be what makes or breaks him. Would have been much happier with the pick in rd 2/3. I know some people are saying he starts out of the gate and I think that would be a big mistake. He needs a year to work and practice at this level. Starting him early will only ruin his confidence. Now if we are 3-7 or something sure you would go to him for the experience in a lost season and to see what you have.

Yea I think he can make all the throws. I really believe Pickett will come in and start right away and do very well.

The guy played QBs for 10 years in the NFL...he knows how to evaluate QBs. Watch the video before you start with the Glemm jokes.

JT was on a team for 4 years in the nfl. 8 games he started one year. 58.2 completion percentage that year. 8 TD's 11 interceptions. sacked 32 times that year. another year he had a 50% completion rating. another year a 32% completion rating. overall 9 TD's 13 interceptions and a completion % of 56.4 and sacked 38 times. oh and had 16 fumbles. he was 2-6 in his career. duck hodges was 3-3 and had a completion % of 62.5. not sure where you got the 10 year thingy.
