I had a strong suspicion they were going to get Cam's little brother. He has to be an upgrade above and beyond anything they currently have behind Najee.

Sympathy pick for his older brother Cameron. Makes no sense whatsoever!

We probably all had a feeling he’d end up at the Steelers, congratulations to him, albeit I’m not sure it is the best use of this pick. Time will tell

Watching some videos about him and I already really like him. Seems like someone I could hang out with, doesn't look like he will be child on social media.

Also see him working his ass off to get better.

Question for those that have watched him, can he add genuine value as a TE?

He's more of a hybrid FB/HB. I don't think Michigan State used him as a traditional FB. They've tried to use McFarland and to a lesser extent, Snell in that role and neither are suited for it. They need running backs. After Harris, I don't have faith in anyone else that was in the RB room last year. I believe they will also probably add a couple of UDFA's.

His value if he is nfl quality will be eventually replacement for Derrick watts. If he can play sp teams and fill the hybrid te/ fb role.

He's 5'11" but weighs 235. A little shorter than a traditional TE, but he is a good receiver. He seems to be a hard-nosed type like Ironhead and his big brother. I would not be surprised at all if he sees time in a traditional TE role. I knew people would label this a "nepotism pick", but I think it's a good choice. If this kid possesses Cam's intellect, work ethic and class, they got themselves a good football player.

He isn't a running back, he is in the mode of Derek Watt.

Teams have a 53 man roster. We have 26 players and their brothers. What could go wrong.

One brother may get more playing time then another, or even get cut!

You remember when we had the Bus, they drafted Fu and the same year there was an undrafted kid who shined. They all were the same big bruiser RB and they kept all 3. Injuries kept Fu back. I have no idea how they will use him, but his running g style is alot like his dad's. I get the sighs from saying there were others available. But this us the 6th round. This is the place you find guys like this who may fill multiple roles for a few years.

He is not to be used as a TE. He is best served as a multi role FB in much of the same vein that the Steelers wanted to use Derek Watt. However, Connor will make it to the 53 as he is a Special Teams demon, is cheaper and is younger than Watt.

Even if Watt does stay, I seriously doubt Trey Edmunds will.

    Except it does.

Derek Watt has a Cap Hit of $4,713,334 per Sportrac. Never mind his cap hit though. Dude is 30 years old and, outside of some solid special teams play, has done little else; not a good return on investment overall. Conner is 23 years old, is much cheaper and can provide similar Special Teams value given the fact that he has played in Special Teams during his entire tenure at Michigan State.

Was thinking the same thing. Let's not forget Miles Boykin was signed as well. A disappointment as a receiver so far but his special teams play is exceptional. Yes he is a Watt but depending on how things work in vamp he may certainly be fighting for a job.

I want him back at the RB/FB position.

Guy can be a beast between the tackles. Benny Snell better look out.

Apparently, he can also return kickoffs. He did that at Michigan State, too.

It's not really a head scratcher. If Watt isn't cut this is at most his last year on the team. His replacement is set at a rookie deal. Heyward is a better pass catcher than Watt. Reminds me a lot of Roosevelt Nix. While short for a TE, he can run the route to the flat in a 3 x TE set, he can block, and he can be a RB/FB when needed. He may note do much in year 1 aside from maybe ST and that's okay, he's a late round pick.
