Let's face it by the end of today the Steelers could look radically different than they did at the start of the season. Now while no one may have envisioned Charlie Batch as the starting QB heading into the meat of the schedule the fact of the matter is that yes he is the starter on Sunday. So with that in mind can we dump some of the ridiculous myths that are being passed around as facts and throw our support as Steeler Nation behind him. There will be several factors that will be working in his favor this week that can help him be successful. The running game is coming on strong if they game plan to use it effectively. The short passing game that was installed to help keep Ben upright will work just as well with Batch. The defense is really beginning to click and it is my hope that Heyward is going to get the nod this week over Hood which seemed to spark something with the DL on Sunday night. The potential to have a big veteran receiver ready to go and make plays along with Miller, Sanders and Wallace to give Charlie lots of targets. An offensive line that continues to show real improvement in their play each week. Lastly we have zero options here folks Charlie is it so get behind him:yeehaw::yeehaw::yeehaw:

One last thing can we drop the he is so fragile BS? I have seen no evidence that Batch is any more or less fragile than Ben or Lefty or even that he can't take a hit. YEs he is older but he is wiser and may just surprise a lot of people with a gritty performance come Sunday. So I say let's ride!

I'm on board with this. But, the coaches have to start calling better situational plays. That 3rd & 2 pass call Monday night was aaaaaawful!.. I thought we canned BA at the end of last season! I would like to see a commitment to start Dwyer & then use him seriously like we used Bettis.

Also, any news on a new QB signing?

i have to agree and disagree. i don't think the o-line is that good, first off. we have to run every play up the middle and hope our RB's can get some extra yards on sheer will and determination. the reason we do is our o-line can't get out and make blocks to the outside. they are slow and the back has to wait on them. the defense doesn't.

yes we should and will back charlie the whole way. he's all we have left.

dwyer has to prove he can make more than 3 runs without having to come out of the game for air. that's his main problem.

I'm all for Charlie, he is a cool guy. 5-2 record as a starter for us. If he gets time to throw he can beat a lot of teams. I think he will be a better quarterback for the dink and dunk, because he looks to get rid of the ball fast. But, he can't get touched, these Browns are good at rushing the quarterback, they sacked Romo 5 times this past sunday.

I know your opinion of the Oline is that they aren't good mac, however I said they continue to show real improvement which when you are at the bottom everything is an improvement. I think they have benefited from having consistency and continuity for several games. There is alot to be said for having the same five guys working as a unit week in and week out than the plug and play line we have been using the last few seasons.

Agreed. I have no doubt in my mind we would have won Sunday night if Batch had played the second half.

How much confidence does Tomlin really have in Batch when he wouldnt put him in when Lefty could hardly stand up?

I will but my full support behind 16, but what choice do I have?

Batch is our guy. That is as long as he can make through the week without pulling a hammy while walking up some stairs at home.

I'm onboard as well and support the player thats assigned to field the turf. I too will have to evaluate Batch after the game...the proof is in the pudding!

Lets face it both of these fossils will be gone next year, I wanted Charlie Batch last week,I feel that he gives us the best chance to win. Now if he doesn't get broke in half by (Jabbal Sheard) he is going to be over Adams. We may be OK. Either way a QB in the pipe line might not have been such a bad idea.

Let's see, the implication is that a guy that won games for them last year and they specifically kept on the team this year is not capable to play? Come on I'm leaning towards the coach not having the game day feel to get that hurting QB out of the game.
