I told you cause I like to talk about sports. Since I've been away me and my dad spend literally hours on end arguing sports. I do it with my teammates, coaches, etc.. I don't watch much TV out of a few shows but I on a daily watch espn, undisputed , the herd, first things first etc.. I love sports and the debate of it. That's it. I'll argue with a stranger on the street about it cuz it's entertaining.

I’d rather try Kazee than Edmunds, but I’d love to get Mathieu for the right price. The instant upgrade in instincts from Edmunds to Mathieu may be a bigger leap than the upgrade in instincts from Davis to Fitz was.

again. y'all need to check the thread of edmunds may be coming back on the cheap and look at last years stat between edmunds and mathieu. for the money and production edmunds would be the way to go.

Stat lines rarely tell the story, especially for defenders.

what exactly did tyrann do so much better? the stats are the stats. the completion percentages are there to be seen. where is the big discrepancy that you are talking about then? money made is a huge difference between them, performance isn't. it in black and white to see. i've seen honey badger have some great games but in others he's nonexistent for long stretches. edmunds seemed pretty steady in most.:cool:

What are you basing this on? Interception totals?

Have you watched Mathieu play? He is everything Edmunds is not. He has fantastic instincts. He reads plays better at the snap. He puts himself in position to make plays, and actually makes them when the ball arrives. Those are areas in which Edmunds sucks.

What Scribe said below. We’ll leave it at that. They’re not even close in terms of football IQ.

just looking at the stats from last year, with almost identical targets against, passes defended, completion % against and interceptions. also tackles for loss against the run. their stats are almost dead on from last year with a slight advantage to edmunds overall. mathieu was the better player coming into the league but edmunds has steadily gotten better through the years. the money difference is probably quite different as well. don't shoot the messenger, i just showed that they ain't far apart as of last year.

Actually, you showed that statistics for defensive players are very flawed. Often, Edmunds will badly misread a passing play at the snap and end up nowhere near the receiver or area he should be covering. I've seen it on film many times. Those plays end up left. Those plays end up left out of completion percentage against because you have to be near the receiver for it to be counted that way.

If you want to bargain hunt instead of getting the better player, fine, but If you don't understand that Mathieu is still dramatically better than Edmunds, you either haven't watched enough of the former or you don't understand what you are looking at.

It did. The statistics just don't properly measure everything those two players either bring to the field or fail to bring to the field.

i've watched a lot of both. i do know what i'm looking at as well. the rest of our DB's must have a lot of targets that as you say edmunds isn't close to but somebody has to be. edmunds yards per completion dropped nearly in half last year. i do know our defensive scheme and ILB play has not helped any of our DB's because they have to try to cover up that deficiency much more then mathieu ever has had to. that alone leads to sometimes being out of position. did you see any of that in your film time? i know you hate edmunds as a player and your leonard love has influenced that but they really do play different positions. if edmunds is out of position and not close to his receiver so much teams would take advantage of that more and more and it simply does not show that. well that or the OC's in the league we play against are just that stupid. i'm guessing they are not. but as i said you make up your own mind about edmunds play last year. i'm saying it's not as bad as many perceive.

player do decline over the years and others get better. mathieu has had many injuries over his time in this league and maybe on a downturn and edmunds seems to be going in the other direction. as i said mathieu was heads and shoulders better coming into the league. edmunds was on the field more often and played some ST's where mathieu doesn't. that adds value too.
