True, just saying that elite QB's still are winning SB's. Brady has a much smaller cap hit than he could if he wanted to be Aaron Rodgers and squeeze every penny out of his career that he can. Guys like Tannehill, Garoppolo, Hurts, and washed up Ben all made the playoffs. I get what you mean. Having a good QB on a good contract is what is going to end up being the winner for teams moving forward.

Don't pat Brady on the back so quick. He is going to cost them 24 million in Dead cap next year.

This year will cost Tampa bay $44 million to allow Tom to play. $20 million in 2022 and a dead cap hit of $24 million in 2023.

Funny how people, like me, were crying bloody murder when the Steelers resigned Ben and allowed him to push 10 million of bonus money into this year. and now Brady just signed a new contract that pushes 24 million into next year giving him a cost of $44 million for this year and that is playing cheap?

It’s all about probabilities. The better your QB, the better your chances. The lower your QB costs, the more money you have for the rest of the team, and thus the better your chances. It seems like the best odds are achieved by having a top notch young QB on a rookie deal. You can certainly win with an expensive franchise QB, but you have to do a great job filling in the rest of the roster with good talent at a lower cost. You can also win with an OK QB and very good overall roster, which is what we seem to be shooting for with Trubisky in 2022.

Stafford was making $25m in 2021 and Brady was making $12-16m during the Pats SB run. He's making less than 13m this year.

    He is making $44 million this year. $20,270,588 + $24,000,000 = $44,270,588

This years Cap hit plus next years dead money is $44 million

Mahomes cap hit is like 30 million. His deal is actually team friendly when you break it down. The 500 million just looks good on the surface. That's not why. I just don't think they wanted to guarantee tyreek and pay him 30 million a year. Imo he's worth it but that's there logic. I'm starting to think they believe in mahomes so much that they think just him and decent parts is a sb. But their now imo the 3rd best team on their division. But they have the best player in the world so it's always a chancr.

The $24m dead cap charge for 2023 is a combination of a void year from his previous deal and the signing bonus from his current deal. He didn’t get $44m for 2022, they’ve been spreading money out since he got there and it’s all coming to a head in 2023.

He is getting paid $25m in to his bank account to play in 2022 which is great value for the Bucs if he can maintain what he has doing in recent years

Yes it’s very team friendly and they can save a fortune on the cap by restructuring year to year. The bill will come due some day but cap inflation will probably soften the blow significantly.

I can understand the reluctance to pay Hill again and they will probably never get a haul like this in the future. They have a tonne of picks to reload the roster now, trade up, whatever. Kelce will be 33 soon too. I think the plan is probably to build a whole new offence around Mahomes. They need to hit on the picks of course

Haven’t looked up his production but it seemed like Hill had a down year, for him anyway. It was a great move for KC.

Have to hit on the picks like you said though.

It will be next to impossible to replace him. There's no one like him. Teams literally centered their entire defenses when they played against kc to stop him. He's the most explosive player we've maybe ever seen.

His numbers are pretty close to DJ's.... yards per catch down substantially this year but catches up.

10 million a year is kind of big money for a safety , if they really wanted to keep Mathieu they could've found a way to get it done.

That's not even top ten for safties in pay. You don't think they wanted to keep hill? He's arguably the most valuable weapon in the game because no one else does what he does. But they couldn't afford him. Same with Mathieu. Hes likely wanting at least 15 a year.

No team is paying Mathieu 15 million a year, he's not worth it, Hill wanted to be the highest paid WR and get more than Davante. That's why the Chiefs traded him.

And hill rightfully should have. They didnt match his offer. I understand gb trading devante cause he asked out.

And he should get 15 mill? Will he? Idk. I know he isn't settling for 10. he made 14 a yr ago.

Hill isn't worth 30 million a year, and Davante isn't worth 28 million, that's close to franchise QB money. Mathieu will get humbled in free agency, he's a declining player 10 million isn't too bad, I hope the Steelers don't offer him that much.

it wasnt a crystal ball. He proved himself in Arizona. The fact that he didnt get more money in 2018 just shows you how stupid some teams (apparently 31 in this case) can be.

We'll see if he does. I don't think mahomes is that type of guy hut I could be wrong. For his very first contract(which is the one most guys try to get as much as possible) he didn't demand that.

Tyreek is definitely worth that on the fact theres not a single person you can point to in the nfl that can match his impact on the game. Hes the most valuble wr in the nfl. Devante is debatable. He's the best wr but idk if I would've paid him that. Maybe if he was the missing piece to a championship team i already have or would elevate my team like if the rams got him or something. And qbs are about to be making 50 plus a year soon so That won't be close to them.

Reports are Mathieu is on the Steelers radar. Who knows what he is asking for. The Colts and Bears are interested.

    Anyone but Edmonds.
