I just saw this story on my newsfeed. I'm not sure I can see it now, but I actually do like Baker Mayfield. However, the sports media has been crazy with all the players moving around during free agency of who is tied to going where.

Report: 1 Team Will ‘Pounce’ On Baker Mayfield If He’s Cut (msn.com)

It would make for good commercials at Heinze Field - At home with Baker Mayfield.

Only problem with, Baker, Haskins, Rudolph and Trubisky is there would never be enough chances for a true competition

Two would have to go, now

No way. I said when the Browns took Him He wasn't worth a 1st round...let alone the 1st Overall pick. Nothing He has done at the browns have made me change My mind.

I can't call him Baker Mayflower anymore if he becomes a Steeler.

I think he ends up in Detroit or Seattle, but I also read that Cleveland was wanting a 1st rounder in return for him. That's pretty laughable.

They should be able to get a 2nd or 3rd but there isn't going to be a ton of interest from many teams.

But, Darnold and Josh Rosen were had for 2nd round choices you think Mayflower could get similar return.

I say sure.. why not as long as I'm not paying his current cap number

A motivated Baker might be interesting.

I said the same thing about Trubisky that you said about Baker (although I thought it about Baker too)

But I have no problem bringing him in and letting camp sort it out

Baker is in his 5th year option, so his $18.8 million is guaranteed, so his dead cap would be the $18.8 million if cut.

The clowns are in trouble not thinking it through like always. They are on the hook for his 5th year. They won't cut him with the uncertainty with Watson. Plus the fact is I don't want him. Drama queen. And do you think he would play for the minimum? :lolol:

The clowns have no choice but to keep him for the season.

They brought in Jacoby to be the guy if Watson is suspended

Baker will not be on the team this season. The Browns will want to trade him even if just for a conditional 7th.. just to trade that cap hit. But who wants to take on that
18 mill? Maybe the Seahawks? But doubtful

they will cut him if they find no buyer.... they can't keep him... worst case Watson gets suspended 6 games and
Baker would go 6 and 0.... and they look stupid.. best case Baker is a huge distraction in the locker room

They owe the 18 no matter what... so it will be addition by subtraction

BAKER can sign anywhere for the min, since he will also be getting 18 from the Browns

Ha ha, but you're right. And it's because there's no way the Clowns just release him. Not happening. They'll get something for him if they do want to get rid of him, even if it's just a Day 3 pick (although it would almost certainly be more than that).

I've never felt Baker was worth all the hype or money personally. Not sure his personality would be what I personally would look for in my field general but I'm just a fan and heck it would probably be better than Mason or haskins.

Sort of, Browns would owe him 18 minus whatever he signs for. And obviously there would be no reason to sign him over minimum.

Anyone remember the Brock Osweiler trade back in 2017? The Browns took on Houston’s obligation to pay Osweiler by trading a 4th round pick to the Texans in exchange for a 2nd, 6th and Osweiler. It would be poetic if the Browns needed to give someone else draft picks to take Baker’s cap hit.

I agree, there is zero chance Baker is a Brown this season. They have to get rid of him at any cost.

So many of these off-season reports have been bunk. It's hard to take any of them seriously.
