I'm glad Steelers most likely won't waste a draft pick on QB. Steelers need DE, OT, G, ILB, CB.

Well, maybe a much more mobile QB is what you need when your O-line stinks.

Besides, can`t say how bad O-line will be until after the draft and any FA signings.

Seems management wants to keep Tomlin`s streak going.

Well, I certainly like this better than going with Rudolph or Haskins as the starter.

Trubisky was my first choice in "realistic" QBs... not pipe dreams like Watson, Rodgers and Wilson. I would have been OK with Mariota or Winston, but Trubisky has more upside, IMO.

In Canada's offense, we really just need a guy to be able to throw screen left, screen right.

I love the signing. It allows us the flexibility to not HAVE to trade up for a QB this year or invest heavily in a trade. We still can draft a QB this year if the guy we like is sitting at 20, but it alleviates the urgency to have to make a franchise altering move like shopping future 1st round picks. There's at least a reasonable chance he ends up being a quality starter like a Ryan Tannehill, but if not, its a small investment and it lets us focus on QB at a later date in the draft. For Trubisky it allows him to take the helm of a team that has a quality defense (I'm gonna assume we fix the run defense), some good young receiving options in DJ, Claypool and Freiermuth (Harris as well), and a really strong young runner in Harris. If we can shore up the OL a bit and get the run defense together, there is absolutely no reason why we cant compete for a playoff spot. Lets see where the rest of FA and the draft takes us.

I don't see how there can be a negative outlook on this.

According to PFF here are the top 5 safety free agents.
    Marcus Williams-Saints
    The Honey Badger-Chiefs
    Devin McCourty-Pats
    Quandre Diggs-Seahawks
    Jordan Whitehead-Bucs

McCourty (1/9) and Diggs (3/40) re-signed with the Pats and Hawks.

You obviously did not watch last year. We also need someone who can fake and then handoff to the WR several times in a series.

OK they had Bengals update of franchising Jesse Bates but PFF didn't have the updates on McCourty and Diggs.

Yea, I honestly do not get the posts on wanting a QB in the 2nd or 3rd. Yes there are outliers..scant few that are Quality starters selected after the first round. Jones, Dobbs, and Rudolph..enough of those picks. You stand a better chance of getting future quality starters in the positions you noted (may I add WR), than finding a future quality starter QB in rounds 2-4.

Trubisky should have one more playoff win on his record. With just seconds to play he rallied the Bears to deep inside Eagles territory for a FG to win the game but their kicker Cody Parkay doinked the kick off the left upright.

Right...u need someone that you're not going to have to change the offense for should your starter get hurt (assuming its Trubisky). Not to mention Canada seems incapable of making adjustments on play calling based upon whose behind center. Its not that he necessarily should have to, but shows how one dimensional his offense and game plan is. Anyway brissett and taylor seem to be the closest in skillset then mason or haskins.

This was my second preferred option. First was that they would use the draft to fix other needs (maybe even trade down for more picks) and let the Reindeer sink or swim in 2022. Accept a sucky record and draft a QB in 2023. The worst option to me was giving a ship pile of money to Garoppalo after trading a ship pile of draft picks, thereby not being able to fix other things. At least they didn’t do that.
I think Trubisky will be a decent bridge to our next (hopefully) good QB.

Beats the hell out of paying someone $35 million a year to sit out because of civil lawsuits.
