The Steelers are reportedly keeping Miles Killebrew with a two-year, $4 million contract. They are also extending an original-round tender to Dwayne Haskins, so he's almost definitely going to be in the mix for at least the backup job. No team is signing him away at that price.

The latest rumor, though I think I had heard this one a while go as well, is that the Steelers might bring in Jacoby Brissett. If the quarterback room is Brissett, Rudolph, and Haskins, you know they aren't serious about 2022.

They really shouldn’t be serious about 2022. The team has a ton of holes. Trading multiple first round picks and other assets for a franchise-level QB makes the holes harder to fill. Sure they might have a great QB, but a great QB with a lousy line and mediocre receivers isn’t going to get you far in a stacked AFC.

If they don’t like the QBs in the draft this year then they’re better off filling holes at Oline, LB, CB, safety, WR etc. and biding their time. Brissett isn’t anything special, but he’s likely an upgrade on 2021 Ben. They’ll still win their share of games, but they won’t go deep into the playoffs.

I like the idea of Trubisky more - but not on a multi-year deal at $10 million+ a year (if that’s what he winds up getting). Winston is ok. But realistically neither is getting this team to the SB. So Brissett in the meantime is fine with me.

    Agree not excited there.

    But.. Bobby Wagner!

Dude's a stud and has been a long time. He's exactly what is needed solidifying the ILB helping mentor Bush how it's to be played.

I agree with filling the multiple holes elsewhere and just accept our QB position this year is going to be average at best.

I expect a Brissett type signing with a QB from the draft

I am still hoping that Haskins only gets the standard RFA deal, and the Steelers can cut him without have to pay him after the preseason.

Where did you read that Haskins was already offered the deal? I know there has been a lot of talk, but I didn't think it had happened yet.

Steelers are gonna hope Pickett drops to them. I think that's how this plays out and then go into next season with what they have and bring in another medicore QB. That's conservatively.

Haskins' money isn't guaranteed. They can cut him at any time.

I thought if they put the original rounder tender on him that guarantees him the 2.54 million?

That means there is only 1 spot left on the active roster. The Steelers can't both sign a quality vet and draft a QB this year.

This will drive me crazy as Haskins does not fit Canada's offense at all; and with the Steelers having to hold the #20 draft spot open for Pickett it means they can't sign a free agent until after the draft: No Marcus Mariota or Mitch Trubisky.

That was my understanding. Rules seem to change enough I can't keep up. Used to be 3 tenders I believe 1, 2 and 3 rounders. I do not think anyone was going to lure him away, but it is what it is.

If our QB's next year are Brissett, Rudolph and Haskins then you are looking at a 6-11 record at best.

He had the blocked punt against the Bills that played a big part in the win.

Wagner isn't that same player, he would probably want too much money at his age.

If they aren’t getting a QB to win now then why tf did they pay TJ and getting ready to pay Minkah? By the time they make a run both will be past their primes. Makes no dang sense.
