    Bobby Wagner anyone?

And as for all the Bengals love

Let's go back to 2011 and listen to the fa talk?

Why on earth would someone pick the Bengals over the Steelers or Packers? They were both just in the Super Bowl and have their QBs in place!!!!!

Yet the Bengals made it to the SB before either The Steelers or Packers.

Every year is a new year. The Bengals and Steelers were both picked to be last in the division last season. yet both made the playoffs while the Ravens and Browns sat at home

It’s a position of need and Wagner is definitely better than what we have today. If he’s willing to sign a team friendly contract then yes

I care in that I'm glad he's not here. A 3rd and conditional 2nd (next year) for a $28M problem they were going to release. The Commies

Wow… I’d consider Heinicke straight up vs. Wentz. Keeping Heinicke + 2 draft picks vs. Wentz is a no brainer to me.

Yeah, I'm not positive, but it's possible Washington isn't the best run franchise.

I like Wentz. He gets blamed for Jax and missing the playoffs but he has a solid year.. the Colts as a team pooped the bed in Jax

That being said, I'm not sure Washington is able to do for him what the Colts did with that running game

Jordan Hicks was just cut by Arizona.

Any thoughts to him coming in opposite Bush? Finally a replacement for Vince Williams that can stuff the run.

29 today, but will be 30 when the season starts in September.

    2021

In Week 13, Hicks had 13 tackles, two sacks and two tackles for loss in a 33-22 win over the Chicago Bears, earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week.[50] He started all 17 games, leading the defense in snaps, finishing second on the team with 116 tackles, four sacks, five passes defensed, and a forced fumble.

I would take Jordan Hicks over Bobby Wagner, he's a little younger and he might come cheaper.

I still prefer Wagner, but settling for Hicks would not be awful.

i think they do have better receivers right now though hack. i think trubisky, heinicke and wentz are all about the same level. pretty close anyway.

I think there is a small chance Trubisky has a decent second act in him, that he has learned some things and might be a better quarterback if given another shot to start. Wentz, on the other hand, is uncoachable, stubborn, and reckless and he has shown no signs of changing any of that.

i meant as far as skill level. i don't think any of them are a guy to build a team around. you can win some games with them but never going to be at elite or franchise status.

I get that, but Wentz and Heinicke are what they are. There is enough evidence to say there is no more upside. I don't think that is true of Trubisky. I have no illusions of him developing into a top-10 quarterback, but I do think he can be better than what he has shown so far.

probably in the right setting. i still lump these guys and maybe throw in jones from NE, maybe minshew and a couple others as top of the middle of the road type qb's. does that make sense? is that what we want or should we strive for more? my thinking about it is getting the most out of the young guys we have that should be coming into their prime before they are used up. najee, DJ, claypool, muth, our O-linemen and a few on defense. i guess i don't want to waste their prime years they will be entering with middle of the road qb's. trubisky to me is pretty close to what he was in college. i don't dislike him but have always wanted him to show more. he just hasn't yet.

The key difference between Trubisky and Jones or Minshew is that Trubisky has the tools to be better than average. He needs a scheme that fits what he can do, and avoid a scheme that asks him to be a pure drop back passer like Brady. Is Canada’s RPO heavy scheme something that would work for him? Maybe. At minimum I would expect him to be a significant upgrade over our current crop of QBs.

not sure elvis. he was at buffalo albeit a small sample size and that is about as RPO friendly as an offense as there is. he had 13 rushes for 24 yards but he had 1 rush of 22 yards. that leaves 12 others for 2 yards total. yes i checked my math on this one.:smiley1: 6 of 8 passing with an interception. a total of 43 yards passing. one pass was for 15 yards. the rest averaged 5.6 yards. only 2 first downs. ok as i said a small sample size. overall 64 TD's with 38 interceptions. 27 fumbles as well. he's been sacked 111 times. 186.9 passing yards per game.

so 64 TD's and 65 turnovers not to mention the sacks. heck mason rudolph is 16 TD's and 16 turnovers, with 16 sacks. trubisky has a 5.3 yards per carry to mason rudolphs 5.2. couldn't rudolph have the same upside in canada's offense as well? he never ran the full offense. there is not a great deal of difference in these guys that i would expect one to make a big leap over the other one. that's why i'm saying i haven't seen it from him. he always leave's me expecting more from him. just to assume it will now work for him is expecting a lot.

will he outplay mason? maybe but again we haven't really seen it. change just for change's sake really won't make us any better. paying more for what we already have is futile at best. now he could prove me completely wrong but so could rudolph. i'd rather keep mason and draft a newbie to work with. we may just end up with the same results but save a bunch of money for elsewhere. if the rookie doesn't work out we will still need a new one either way down the road.
